  1. Good luck in your survey, I would be interested what response you get.

I believe in simulators for use in training for years, and now days the technology has allowed them to be used in all sorts of industries for training. But unless they are generally worth 5 & 6 figure sum plus, they may not be up to standards expected to be called a simulator. Not to many $100k plus simulators for a rag and tube or a Jab etc.

For me, I have found helpful , but I understand a lot of people would not, that a fair priced desk top computer that if set up with a off the shelve flight sim programe with a few addons etc, can be used as a tool for certain phases of flight training and also for keeping certain memory type procedures refreshed in your mind. But only if you can treat it as such, and make sure your not introducing bad habit of incorrectness to your real flying. Cheers.

  2. Pilots are told you have to have the latest copy of ERSA in the plane, some were'nt listening when they were told to read it.

I hope you go and speak to them, politely. It's a good way of learning from making a mistake if your told you made the mistake.

Beware, "meatbombs in area". 1st time i heard that one was yesterday.[thats a bit rough]

  3. Yes and No.

Transponder, radio equiped and a ppl, and a flight plan, Yes. , and a current registration. Im sure if you look up the regulations it should tell you what you shoul and should'nt do. good luck.

  4. If you fly in a area where there's RPT you sure need to on the alert for traffic, for even the pro's get it wrong. Having a radio scanner on back patio, i hear RPT jets and turbo props make a call on melbourne center at 30mile and then change to ctaf and make another call, it sure dont take long before they at downwind or on straight in final. Well one day a F50 turbo prop is making 30 mile call on melb centre twice [as soon as they made second call i thought then they have not changed] , then 5 mile call still on melb cen with intensions [they were coming in from the east to setup for a left base rwy 18], then they must have realised they had not changed to ctaf and then made call on local ctaf. So you really should make sure your monitoring both channels.

A commercial helo pilot [bristows] was saying how he hates the RAAF jets, 30mile call and 4mins later they are there.

The then airport manager was telling me how he believes RPT pilots are not that good when it comes to sorting out seperations if other traffic around, because he"s opinion is they generally have a controller telling them what to do , for that when it comes to doing it for themself, they are not that good.

But i do agree with Dazza, you do get some that are very good.

  5. Cheer's for that Alan, that makes sence. I guess checking POH should be first thing to check with any quierries on a aircraft operations.

Not owning a aircraft, has anyone seen what there POH states.

Just checking Jabiru 160c POH. Section 1 General. " The cockpit is designed to accomodate the PIC on the left side and all controls and all controlls, instruments and switches are located as to be within easy reach of the occupent of that seat. Duplicated flight controls are provided on the RH side of the cockpit." This is in section 1 page 14.

But, in section 2:16 Other Limitations. it states "As the seat beside pilots seat is equiped with a functioning set of flight controls, refer to operational requirments for the occupation of this seat by a passenger."

Now trying to find operational requirments, to see what that may say.

  6. I thought helo's are flown from RH because they turn mainly right due to centrifical force, it being easier to turn right. The same reason why a single prop plane turns left. Better view from LH seat to turn left, helo's do RH circuits better view to turn right.

As for legalites i was told if you are able to access primary controlls and view gauges you can fly

    RH.

  7. Yes, I do believe the business is still for sale. Hopefully someone will take it on.

Would have too be one ,of a few, for the best value for dollar per hour of flying with a range of 3hrs, cruise 75-85kts a Va of 72kts. But it is limted in amount of room for carrying accessories. Finding a replacement engine in the future could be a problem. I believe Rotax have stopped producing 447 and 503 2stroke model's. Apparently parts on shelves, for 10yrs after ceasing of production.

  8. I've only seen the one from Lake Cullulleraine Vic,[ youtube] its quite old, and a Sadler Vampire as well. No doubt some Sapphire owner has some sort of camera to film there aircraft. Tomo does a good job with the camera, and his new aircraft.

Be nice to see the Sapphire come back into production. I've seen one small photo of a flock of Sapphires in a early morning shot, and there was a local wedding on so they decided to do a formation flyover for the wedding party after the church service , and appreciated by the bride and groome.

Love to see more formation flying of ultralights, as long as its properly endorsed pilots and they do it very safley.

  9. Try VOZ 1.8 here's a link, http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/category/16-voz-downloads-fs9/ you can find other small add-ons that are fs9 and voz friendly and all free. Quite a big file and you need to read install instructions. make back up files, you may have too install more than once. I have spent hrs re installing, but when working it does make a big difference to scenery and its good to have a few aussie airports.

You can only install fs9 scenery files to fs9 and only fsx files to fsx fs. You can try and install but every one on fourms that say they did say it very hard and messes up the flight sim. There are planes that are capable of both. Good luck.
