  1. Hi there! My name is Blair, and I'm loving sport aviation. I've had my licence since November 2011, and since that time, I've been getting out as much as I can to build my experience, of flight, and of different aircraft. I've now accumulated about a hundred hours, and continue to learn and grow (or sprout) my wings. I drive the big trucks interstate which is a great job, but there is nothing to compare with the freedom and adventure I find in the sky. I am a late starter have gained my licence (finally) in my late 40's, so I now have a passion to fly as much as I can, and to inspire young people to get their licences early, as it just adds so much to life. I started flying when I was 12, with pilots at the local airfield in NZ, and did some GA training later on but never finished, as the cost of flying just kept running away. Then, the Recreational Pilot Licence was invented - a revolutionary solution that turned things around - and made flying easier, more accessable, and more affordable. I took the plunge, like jumping off the high diving board, and did my complete RPL in three weeks straight. I think this is the way to go, (or to do blocks of training), as it allows the flying to "sink in" to your being, and to become part of your thinking in a consistent, regular way, like running or breathing. One of the things I love to do now, is introduce people to flying for the first time, and to inspire others to flight. The sense of awe and achievement at gaining a licence is so tremendous, it is truly a gift to bring it to others. It has been a natural progression to sponsor intro flights (for free!) because I was first introduced to aviation without cost, and I am passing something of that spirit of generosity and goodwill on to the next person. The fact that there is no age restriction on flight training means that kids also can learn to fly real aircraft, rather than just playing video games. I am keen on the idea of a trust or foundation that can sponsor pilots who can't quite make it on their own into a licence or career. Finally, while flying can be a solitary experience, I am finding true delight in flying with others. If you are a pilot, (or even just a passenger!) I would love to fly with you anytime. I'm sure I can learn something from you, and make a new friend!? I'm based in Sydney, but drive to Perth and stop occasionally in Adelaide, Renmark or other places on the Sydney-Perth route, so feel free to drop me a line, and come flying or invite me to come with you on an adventure. My regards to all fellow pilots and enthusiasts. Go fly and have fun!
  2. Hi there Michael! I hope you don't mind me replying on the forum. I'm an interstate trucker with a passion for flying. Just wanted to say, that after getting my recreational licence, my next "big dream" is to fly a "little plane" across the Tasman to my home country of NZ. If you finally decide to "do it again", drop me a line. I might even be game enough to do it (I drive 8000k's a week Sydney-Perth, so it would be a bit similar, but a really different perspective and nowhere to pull up!!). For me, it would be the adventure of a lifetime (gotta do these things!).
