  1. Close Up a NZ current affairs programme (kind of like Today Tonight or ACA but not as trashy) sent 3 reporters out on friday to test out the service offered by Jetstar, in the wake of the bad press surrounding the launch of Jetstar's NZ domestic services.

The video can be found here http://tvnz.co.nz/close-up (hurry as it'll be moved on monday when they put new stories up)

For all those interested the flights that Donna-Marie Lever took had our very own Darren Masters as the flightie, sitting in the jumpseat directly opposite and eying her up.

So when Donna mentions her flights its Daz she delt with

  2. VH-VUG Jasmin Tasman was repainted at the start of June into Pacific Blue colours in the TSV paint shop, then entered Pacific Blue service as DJ151 SYD-DPS on 15-June-2009.

VH-VBZ is slated for the repaint into Pacific Blue colours from July 26th ... this will be the 1st -700 in PB service.

  3. This may require Daz using the Mk I eyeball method as it takes off on Saturday, but in saying that, the email I received stated its last flight was the Friday night run, so perhaps mail/freight volumes are quiet at this time of year and the sat flight isnt required.

  4. Mr Chainy Sir,

I have sent an email to my contact at AKL, and await his reply.

But I wouldn't think that VH-TBS is operating in its place as TBS is registered to AVIATION AUSTRALIA PTY LTD in BNE, and I would assume that TBS is their ground based 727 trainer at BNE, and appears to be the 727 in the photo under static aircraft, under the heading facilities hire on thier website. But this is just my theory.

  5. Pricey, currently 4 (VH-VWW, VWX, VWY, VWZ) with more on order.

VWW and VWX are brand new this year and VWY and VWZ were the second hand ones that entered the fleet last year.

They generally fly MEL-OOL, MEL-CNS and recently introduced to CNS-DRW-SIN, but have also been noted on BNE-CNS, SYD-CNS, SYD-OOL and I guess as more arrive this year they will be introduced to more routes, and you'll see a few more at SYD.

  6. Nice pics there Pricey

Dean - its not as if it's only here for a short period of time, so we're bound to see it up here sometime, guess we just have to be patient. But of course knowing our luck it'll be here after 2pm when we cant get into Loop Rd

  7. For those interested - there are some Sunday afternoon SYD-AKL-SYD flights scheduled for the next few weeks

21 Jun 28 Jun 05 Jul 12 Jul ETA1630LT ETD1800LT these times are for AKL so if you're wanting to see it in SYD you'll need to work out the correct times for yourself.

  8. Daz, VQD swapped with VQF in OOL last week with VQF having arrived from CHC and VQD returing to CHC, and obviously VQF the opposite.

VQD has now re-entered aussie domestic services swapping in MEL on a CHC-MEL leg, and was replaced with VQU. The other trans-tasman ex CHC aircraft is VQC

  9. One thing I did notice while doing my crewing in Aus last week is that DJ have a hell of alot of 73's sitting idle and alot of Embraers operating. A sign of troubled times?

DJ have parked 10 73's due to the economic times, and are also utalising the E jets more as they offer a better load size for the routes that have/are shrinking due to the economy.

But in saying that PB is growing at a rapid rate, with the introduction of the new Bail services and increase, and the upcoming new flights to Fiji and now Hamilton NZ.

  10. I thought I read an unconfirmed report one/some of the E190's were being repainted in PB colours.

    Doesnt really mean much

VH-ZPM delivered in May is the 1st of six wearing the PB colours but they will operate the same as the 738s (VH-VOQ, VOX, VUM, VUN, VUQ) basically as flying billboards in aussie skies, ocasionally subbing in on a PB flight to cover maintenance of the ZK registered PB fleet.

So if the previous mentioned "operated by VB" flights are E190 flights then they would be on one the 6 PB painted aircraft otherwise they will be one of the 5 above mentioned 738s.

  11. Having had a look at the new HLZ-SYD and BNE flights, I see some are marked as operated by VB and some by PB.

Thereby I would guess that the VB operated flights could be with the E190 while the PB operated flights remain with the 738, but obviously we will have to wait until September to find out for definite.

The press release can be found HERE but it doesnt shed any light on whether the flights will be E190 or 738.
