    Hi

Im in the same situation at the moment Mal. I passed BAK and did one lesson of emergency landings and now Im waiting to get back to work as I have run out of money also. I havent flown for a month, it feels like forever. Im a casual teacher, therefore have just had school xmas holidays with no pay for 2 months. Anyway, we shall get back into it when we can. Im sure you wont forget what you have learnt. Cheers lyn

    Hi

Hi Guys, Hope everyone had a great christmas and were safe from those floods. Hows your flying going Mal. I cant wait until you go solo so you can tell me all about it. I passed my BAK and did my first lesson of emergency landings last week. I got some good photo's of the flood at Grafton. Cheers Lyn

    Hi

Hey Mal Glad your feeling better. Great news that your back into it, I havent done the glide approaches etc yet. I think I have to do that next lesson. I cant wait to hear how your 1st solo goes, I think when its my turn I will be really really nervous. I am probably sitting my BAK next week, I'll have that out of the way before I go solo by the looks of it. Im applying for a scholarship to cover the expenses of my navs, and it has to be handed in by january. One of the requirements is to have passed all exams. They dont mention who has won it until May 2011, so I should be safe to say that I'll have my licence by then, as that is the other requirement. Well Im sure your elevator work will go fine and you will have passengers in there before you know it!! Cheers Lyn p.s. you must be busy with work, flying and going to floods etc

    Hi

We all had a great weekend at our aeroclub for the fly in and the weather was good. I got to have a fly of a EuroFox and thought it was really nice, alot more expensive than the Jabiru. We had a sky diving company that came for the weekend and on Sunday the pilot had dropped the jumpers out and was coming back to land but crashed the cessna into the paddock (full of water and grass) short of the runway. It broke the nose wheel off and the prop dug into the ground and bent. We think he ran out of fuel. Anyhow, it's still there waiting to be checked and moved. Hope you have a great lesson today Mal if you are still going. Hope you get to go solo!

    Hi

Hey, thats great! Im not sure if i'll be scared or happy to take off on my own first time, you will have to let me know how it goes. I still have to do forced landings first I think. Hopefully Monday is a really nice day for you too.

    Hi

Hey Mal, the crow hit the prop!!! It didnt hurt him though, it just trimmed up his tail feathers HA HA. I wonder if he does it again? How's your flying?
  9. Hey good idea, I think we should be able to find nice pilots on here!! Things get better Greg, just takes time. So now that Im almost a pilot, does this mean that I can only find a pilot partner?

    Hi

It is really great fun Pete, and once you start flying you become very addicted to it. Something funny to tell you all. Occassionally when I taxi down the runway there is a crow that tries to attack the jabiru. He dive bombs it from behind and only just misses the prop. He never does it to any other plane and only does it when you taxi, not on take off. One day he is going to end up in the prop!!!!

    Hi

I passed my exam (92%) and did 4 landings without my instructor taking over at all !!! What a great morning. Hope you guys dont mind me telling you all of this. When you talk to people that dont fly, they have no idea how exciting or how hard things are. Next exam is the flight radio endorsement. Then BAK.

    Hi

Thanks Dazza, Im going to sit the RA-Aus pre-solo, pre-certificate air legislation test on Saturday after my lesson. (so much to remember!). It will be great to get it out of the way though. Will let you know how I go.

    Hi

Thanks Mal, Im appreciative of all your help. My instructor actually got me to do a few circuits in a cross wind 2 weeks ago, he thought it would take my mind off the landings ha ha. I did a great cross wind circuit, but had no hope of landing it properly since I hadnt even worked out how to land in calm weather at that stage. Now that I have that image in my head and know what to do, I might have a better chance. I have another lesson Saturday morning and am hoping I can do just as good. Let me know about the cross wind landings and glide approaches, and any more tips. Its fun in the wind.

    Hi

Just wanted to say thanks to you all for your landing advice. I did what you all said and landed the Jabiru without my instructor taking over. YAY. I have done 4.2hrs of circuit training and have 10 hrs all up in my log book. Once I got down low enough I looked right to the end of the runway and just kept flying it along the runway (like I was crop dusting it) until it lost enough speed to touch down. I think looking to the end of the runway like Dazza and Mal said was the trick. Now I cant wait to go again.

    Hi

Our aeroclub is having the annual fly-in at the end of the month, and this rain is making the aerodrome quite wet and it doesnt look like it's going to stop. Its good weather for reading. Im sitting one of my exams this week, hope I pass!!!
  16. Lyn

    Hi

Oh sure, I will do that thanks. It would be nice to visit Auckland. We arent having very nice weather here, it's been raining for over a week and is supposed to keep going for another week. I can't fly the Jabiru in the rain because of the wooden prop, so waiting for a nice day. Since i've been learning to fly, i've never watched the weather and hated the rain so much!!!

    Hi

I have another lesson in one week, will let you know how it goes. Darren, do you fly with Jetstar? I went to Sydney recently and got to have a look in the cockpit of the virgin jet. Those big planes are awesome arent they

    Hi

Thanks guys, that makes me feel better. I think what Im doing is not lifting the nose and keeping it there for long enough, perhaps last time I tried to land the plane too quickly and because I had too much speed up still, it ballooned. Im waiting for a nice day with no cross wind so I can try again. I think there is a bit more pressure for me also (in my own head), as I am the only girl at our club learning to fly. All the guys seem to pick it up much quicker and they all sit on the verandah watching me!! Atleast I give them a good laugh when I bounce the poor Jab on my touch and goes. So far I only have about 3 hours of circuit training.

    Hi

Thanks, I try to get there weekly, it depends on the weather and finances. I would love to just buy a plane and go there everyday!! With the landings, I do the best circuit, come in for my final and it's not until im just about to land that I then seem to get the ground effect happening and my landings become pretty dodgy. I suppose just more practice then.
  20. Lyn

    Hi

Would like to know how many hours it took you guys to master the landings. I think Im one of those people that likes to keep doing something over and over until I get it. I hate doing my circuit training for an hour and then having to wait a week or two before I can get back for more practice. The hour goes so fast!! (especially when your having so much fun). This week I did cross wind circuits.
