  1. Hi, yes thats the man. However after further 'googling', I managed to answer my own question half an hour after posting this thread! If anyones interested it was a Bell 206B registered as VH-KMX. Although the crash is listed as the Warragamba Dam, the CASA site lists it as Lake Burragorang which is why I couldn't find it on their site. I understand this chopper was used by Kennedy to shoot the aerial footage for Mad Max 2. SBeck
  2. Try googling 'Hazair' and talk to Stephen Death at this site, he might know this pilot. Theres an Airtruk on display at the Powerhouse Museum - the original prototype. Bankstown also has an Airtruk but its a replica only. SBeck
  3. Does anyone know the ID / msn of the Bell Jet Ranger flown by famed producer Byron Kennedy which he crashed in 1983. I tried the CASA site but its online records don't record the accident? Thank you
  4. jeanette, nice story, the Airtruks a cool plane. Rod lives in the bush now I've been told, no phone or internet I understand.
  5. Does anyone know the rego. for the Grumman Mallard apparently used in the 1986 movie Skypirates. Thank you
  6. Does anyone know the present whereabouts of this helicopter?
  7. That one I believe is VH-HSB but I don't know its history?
  8. Firstly, I'm putting together a production list of all 118 PL-12 airframes. Also, I don't know if anyone else is interested, but I'm writing a book on 'Hollywood Aviation Films' which also includes Australian films, MM3 being significant for the Airtruk of course. Theres also entries for Chopper Squad, The Flying Doctors, Mad Max 2, Smithy, Sky Pirates and Tail of a Tiger.
  9. I wonder if the static one was VH-IVH as this crashed before filming. It flew again later but was written off in another accident in 1988. Don't know what happened to it after that. It was registered to Kennedy-Miller in 1984. The film's helicopter pilot, Terry Lee told me he watched it flip over while landing.
  10. Thank you for that. This ends a five year search!
  11. Thanks so much for the EVY rego. further searching has proven you correct! Did Rod also own the other machine used - was this one a derelict / non-flying?
  12. Anyone know the rego. of the Airtruk at Drages Airworld, Wnagaratta or have pictures??
  13. Does anyone have any details / history of the aircraft used in this film? Thank you.
  14. Anyone know this ag pilot who flew PL-12 Airtruks? Thanks S D Beck.
