LightSabre - a single seat version of the rare retractable Sabre :black_eye: often only seen in the crashified section of the RA OZ magazine, i_dunno (although PrivateDickPete 024_cool.gif.e4faea8b8d6d5d6e548e269d4b8acbd2.gif does know of a local existance, not far from Echooka) powered by a knacked :yuk: (neuted?) 912.

  2. A couple of points/observations:

    1. Don't go to full flap too early - make sure you're going to make the strip - in other words later than sooner.

    2. To get into shorter strips (especialy those that have high obstacles, trees etc) you will need to use full flap. It's a skill, like all the other bits of flying that you do/practise.

    3. If you have electric flaps, you can vary the degree of application. So use first flap (around 15%) and then add a little more later (say 25%) until you get comfortable.

  3. ....and so Bollocks  romped away (not that there's anything wrong with that 031_loopy.gif.791dd61f4721144544bc840fb53eec3f.gif) and climbed onto the firetruck. Like a very bad re-run of "Those Magnificent Men..." Bollocks 025_blush.gif.8e2ecc192cc98853ac4370dddcd7cf74.gif rang the bell with vigor that would have made Benny Hill proud.

The chased poor old FlaplessPete 051_crying.gif.edc6b33a234e272ee13f0ec0ae40b12a.gif all over the aerodrome until finally the Jabiru ran into the ladder and landed upside down :ah_oh: on top of the firetruck. 088_censored.gif.03b4fab6f26a58d5cdf75ba85c450225.gif

Poor young Tomo :raise_eyebrow: was suffering double lots of Dejavu :yuk: as he relived an earlier post.

Ollocks :black_eye: crawled out of the wreckage - "Jeez, has anyone seen my nutz" he asked, searching his pockets for his favourite mid morning snack. GratefulPete said, "No, mate, sorry, but I do have some Jatz crackers if that helps.

Leaving the nutless Ollocks and SnackTimePete to discuss the finer points of low glycemic munchies, Tomo  wandered back to his tent still shaking from witnessing what could have been a right major muckup. thumb_down (Sorry Maj).

The firechief 068_angry.gif.e6e3bad802304927655e1c48b61088cd.gif was really upset about the loss of his firetruck 088_censored.gif.03b4fab6f26a58d5cdf75ba85c450225.gif and was looking for vengance.....

  4. G'day Pete,

I would have thought something that would run on AVGAS would be the go. Plenty of fuel available thru the fuel drain. But this may be too violatile.

We used Hexamine (solid fuel like a fire lighter) when I was in the army. This may be a bit more stable/safe. Anyway I'm not much help - I will be interested in further replies.

    regards

  5. I'm with you too, Tomo.

Only time I don't use full flap is when there is a strong x-wind or I'm expecting very strong sink.

When doing T&G's I always use full flap and, let that front wheel come down before removing 2nd stage and then apply throttle.

    regards

PS - The great thing about the electric flaps on the Jabiru is that they are variable - a lttle more or less to suit conditions.

PS - Pinched one of the tubes putting the rims back together :yuk: - didn't know until I tried to inflate it at the airport. 068_angry.gif.cc43c1d4bb0cee77bfbafb87fd434239.gif

Was SO EASY  to take off tyre and put in new tube (again :yuk:), only took about 30 minutes using hand tools only.

  8. ...but the Fire truck (yes, I know it was a crash truck, but who's writting this anyway ) had problems of it's own. :yuk: YoungHotFootTomo, :ah_oh: in a last ditch effort to land and join in the fun, has managed to catch hold of the fire hose that was unwound to dry (after a fire dousing demo) using the leather toggle rope attached to his :censored:I'mLostInTheFog Whistle.

So while TwisterTomo 031_loopy.gif.791dd61f4721144544bc840fb53eec3f.gif trys to wind himself down onto the ground by turning tighter and tighter, the Fire truck team 024_cool.gif.e4faea8b8d6d5d6e548e269d4b8acbd2.gif:keen:i_dunno:blush: are having none of it and are desparately turning in the opposite direction.:devil:

The Queens Scout (let's call him Russell 024_cool.gif.e4faea8b8d6d5d6e548e269d4b8acbd2.gif) has returned grandmas teeth and the two of them are standing together, mouths open :ah_oh::ah_oh: (and full of teeth) in awe of what is about to happen. :yuk:

"Holy 088_censored.gif.03b4fab6f26a58d5cdf75ba85c450225.gif" said grandma (the second daughter  of a lay preacher) as PoorHe'sAGonerTurnaboutDeadDuckTomo 051_crying.gif.edc6b33a234e272ee13f0ec0ae40b12a.gif starts to lose vital lift on the inside wing of the JabiStall plunger. thumb_down

Theres a kind of a hush (from the huge crowd now watching in total silence) as the JabbiAboutToBeRooted 068_angry.gif.e6e3bad802304927655e1c48b61088cd.gif flips onto its back and heads straight for Grandma, :ah_oh: Russell Scout :black_eye: and the Fire truck. radioactive.gif.ab1d7d6d5ccab99be37614844a7a6747.gif

  9. ....but this was no ordinary brussel sprout. 024_cool.gif.e4faea8b8d6d5d6e548e269d4b8acbd2.gif No sir-ee, this was a queens  brussel sprout who came up thru the ranks after starting as a lowly cub. :ah_oh: With a dib, dib, dib, our latest addition to the NES  adjusted his woggle 031_loopy.gif.791dd61f4721144544bc840fb53eec3f.gif and carefully put grandma's teeth into his leather compass pouch. 025_blush.gif.8e2ecc192cc98853ac4370dddcd7cf74.gif

That'll hold 'em until granny wants 'em he said to no one in particular. :) Suddenly Young ICan'tGetThis:censored:ThingToLandTomo keen.gif.7777ed0d05dcd20861d93166f822038e.gif roared overhead at 2 feet dragging his foot on the tarmac desperatley trying to slow the Jabizoom down to stall speed. :yuk:068_angry.gif.e6e3bad802304927655e1c48b61088cd.gif

Everyone on the ground was chanting PAT, PAT, PAT, but Tomo 002_wave.gif.38b2eb11a61bb4711f0b1477404692bd.gif took no notice as he thought it was just a loud re-run of the Young Einsteins. 040_nerd.gif.818f42a429bd433d10428d88b6b4d49f.gif (If you're not as young as Tomo, you may need to ask your grandkids about this.)

Meanwhile grandma :broken_heart: was lookin' for her teeth........

  10. G'day Cobber,

I use Garmin Flightbook which is set up to read data from my GPS. You can however enter data manually. Coupled to Garmins Mapsource (which shows your tracks on a map overlay) it is a terrific tool.

Your other option would be to set up a spreadsheet which could be configured to add up hours, distance, fuel used etc etc.

    regards
