  1. Hi John? I'm Andrew Carter flying an EA81 powered Pietenpol out of Somersby. I bought the aircraft in Rockhampton and flew it down to Sydney and took several people on flights - no problems. I decided to have the engine overhauled and there has been no end of problems since then. The first major issue was leaking from the head gaskets which no one was ever able to explain (and has since stopped after 4 sets of gaskets!). Now however I can't get the heating under control. In a sustained climb (5200 rpm at 55 kts) I always approach max oil temp. I have a simple water / oil cooler and the water temp never really gets above about 170 degress F. I was quite surprised to see that you thought air flow over the sump was enough to cool the oil. I have that and the cooler and am getting no where. Do you have any ideas? If so please feel free to contact me through this site, [email protected] or 0402 033 119 Thanks Andrew
