  1. Hi guys i have a UK NPPL(M)

this licence allows me to fly all microlights either 3 axis or weightshift. I was wondering how the Aust system works. It might be worth me getting a 3 axis endorsement while im still in the UK?? Are hours on type combined for licence currency requirements? Do x amount of hours have to obtained to gain the other certification or is it a simple you can fly it safely heres your endorsement?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Nick.

  2. Operating a modern 4 stroke must be more economical, or maybe its a perception thing so Flying schools arent strapping people into a few bent bits of pipe and rag concoction anymore.

The Flying School i work with in pommyland train on Icarus C42 and streak shadows. 120 and 110 GBP P/H dual instruction respectively. not much of a price gap.

  3. Nick, Aren't you wanting to convert your UK licence over to RAAus/HGFA? I would suggest you don't get off side with those who may be doing the conversion for you.

Good Tip, however if i happened to meet someone that petty that can't handle another persons thoughts i would just go to someone else.

Ive been reading CAO's for days', so many unnessesary rules with contradictory sub clauses. Maybe CASA rule makers get bonuses based on how many rules and sub clauses they submit...

Maybe its just the frustrated AME in me that wants clear concise information in one place.

  4. Fortunately for the rest of us potentially below you, you don't have a choice.

How does having a PLB make it any safer for you flying beneath me?? it actually increases your risk...... another object to fall out and land on your plane beneath me. ;-)

I think they should be encouraged and they are a great idea but the whole police state nonsense really gets under my skin. Cant their be a bit more trust after all we are licenced responsible people.

How long until we are dictated to have transponders fitted? At least then everyone can fly around with their eyes closed.

  5. logically, is it necessesary? my maintenance records of engine and airframe are combined. my logbook is sepparate my paper licence is separate, my medical is separate my insurance is separate. just leave us all alone and check valid ID and aircraft reg and serviceability and look us up if they are unsure. a PLB is a crock of wank. another device that we require within the nanny state we live.

  6. Too much policing still for my liking. So i should carry my maintenance logs in my flex along with my stupid paper licence and PLB and medical and blah blah etc. Screw this police state. I shouldnt have to carry another licence, pilot log, engine log, airframe log, medical or a PLB with me. all crap. some form of id is fine and check that the ac is rego and airworthy but screw that. its plain harrassing.

  7. Thankyou both for your help, Im actually going to train to be a flex instructor in the near future so there will be more around. The english have such crappy weather but seem to have alot more flying going on which is great. Can someone advise what differances training i will have to do to convert my licence over and aircraft reg for that matter. Cheers

  8. Hi guys,

can i have some of your thoughts as to which avenue i should go down? I fly flexwings in the UK with a UK licence i need to transfer this over when i return to australia in April. I also want to fly 3 axis microlights and paragliders. Can RA Aus provide cover for all three? any differance for flexwings between one or the other governing bodys?

    Cheers .
