  1. There were a couple of nutters on TicToc posting the same thing.

They were convinced that government were spraying toxic chemicals from aircraft.

Didn't matter how many people gave them the reasoning behind chemtrails they wouldn't believe, total fruit cakes !

  2. Back when I first started shearing ( nearly 50 years ago ) Lister motors were common in shearing sheds driving overhead gear.

There was a long overhead shaft the length of the shearing board that the shearing stands down tubes were driven off by a large pully and cone drive.

The shaft was driven by the Lister motor with a flat belt.

I can still smell the fumes and hear the " choof choof " of the old motor, the steam coming out of the old 44 gallon drum full of water used for cooling.

They were bullet proof and ran on the smell of an oil rag.

  3. Call me dumb !

Why couldn't you dig a ramp in front of the rear wheels as there is plenty of clearance .

Make a steel ramp that the aircraft can ride onto , use a tug and the planes own thrust to ease it out of the bog .

I've been bogged a thousand times on the farm and once you reduce the incline and provide a solid surface the amount of effort to remove the bogged machine is minimal.

    But who uses common sense!

Once you have the Certificate you have it indefinitely unless medically unfit. You need to be a Member to fly if Membership is expired you can rejoin the Association. BFR required as normal.

That makes sense............If you are not up to standard you wouldn't pass a BFR.

I think I'll just go with a non flying membership. Maybe when a few more aircraft come on the market at a reasonable price I might consider buying. There were so many aircraft for sale to choose from before Covid , I don't know where they all went !

thanks for the info Ando   👍

  5. Thanks Roscoe,

I will probably do as you suggested.  My concern is whether I will be able to return to flying with only a renewed full membership and a BFR ( with a few lessons to get back my skills )

I'll give RAA a call and sort it out,

    cheer's.

Kyneton does not charge landing fees Butch, and will have an RAAus Tecnam for training running very soon!

    Thanks,

Sorry, I thought Kyneton was in the process of introducing fees.

Before Covid I was going to come over and do my RPL in your Cessna as you were recommended by a friend. (bloody Covid !)

    Cheer's.

  7. I have hardly flown since Covid started........ only a few hours.

If I wanted to get back into an aircraft I would need a couple of hours refresh with an instructor even though I'm still current with all requirements.

I have made the decision to take a break from flying for the following reasons:

To hire an aircraft I have to pay membership of my local flying club.

Hire rates have increased making it a very expensive past time.

I now require an ASSICS card to use the airport ( Bendigo )

The airport has gone from a small country airport to having  regular Quantas link flights and all the BS that goes with it.

They now charge landing fees and so do most of the nearby airports that I used to fly to (Echuca, Kyneton, Shepperton.........etc.

I have found other interests during Covid that are far cheaper and less hassle.

I still want to retain my RAA Pilot Certificate so I could return to flying if I change my mind in the future.

What I need to know is can I keep my licence without a required BFR, and if so how long do I have before my licence would be canceled.

    thanks in advance Butch.

Just flying by myself has never been enough for very long. It's 95% boredom and 5% FEAR.

    Have to agree Nev,

I have hardly flown since covid started. Going to hire an aircraft with no one at the club house and nobody wanting to go for a flight with you has made me lose interest in flying.

Being a low hours pilot I am now starting to lose my confidence even though I'm current with everything.

I am now turning my interests to things that are less expensive and less hassle to do.

I really love flying but I'm at the crossroad whether to continue in the future. Hopefully if covid gets sorted out the passion will return.

  9. Simple answer!

Don't get yourself into a situation that you need these skills.

I know...... it can still happen.....then what do you do.

As Nev said it takes years of experience before you are able to control this scenario with confidence.

    I like playing CHICKEN !

I just stay inside the safety envelope that we have been trained to do.

There's the BFR, and then there's the practising for the BFR. The whole process has got to sharpen a pilot's skills.

    Great point OME,

Had a BFR after 10 months not flying,  I was going to take an instructor for a flight anyway so thought I would kill two birds with the one stone.

I usually go for a fly and practice the week before a BFR and get my head around it all.

Enough said, was a pretty average example of flying ( well landing ! ) . The pressure of the BFR and lack of hands on flying knocked a big hole in my confidence !

After a couple of circuits it all came back, if I had my time over again I would have gone for a few circuits the week before with an instructor  and enjoyed the practice.

Butch,   That’s not fair......in the time I have been on this forum, Skippy has posted a lot of stuff I have learned from.

Used Car Salesman?  I worked for Toyota 40 years ago when my company cars were FJ40s etc and I had a reputation second to  none, I even got into trouble for refusing to sell some second hand cars I knew were junkers.

So don’t tar all used car salesmen with the one brush.  Anyway, I bet you would like to be in a position where you dealt in aircraft, I know I sure would 🙂

    My apologies Jack,

I have a mate that's a used car salesman ( it was meant to be a tongue in cheek comment )

I didn't say Skippy wasn't a good contributor to this forum, I just wish he wouldn't use it as a platform to try and sell aircraft !

A prime example was his response to Wirraway 30 minutes ago.

    cheers.

Butch - this is my last response  - I like to think I am an active contributor/supporter of this Forum. I respond to every topic, where I feel I might have something worthwhile to say, to seek clarification, or give support.

I do not intend to try and quantify the number of response I have made where I have mentioned my interest in or promoted ATEC aircraft but would hazard a guess that it would be less than 25%.

If that is" every "or even "most"  in your world please be good enough to stay out of mine. Thank you

This is not a personal attack, it's just that most users of this forum are here for the social aspect and get a bit sick of your repetitive inclusion of the Aircraft you have to sell !

First Class Memberships are still available, cheers and good luck with your sales.

Wirraway - there is more than one way to skin a cat/obtain an aircraft. If you have good practical skills or can access them through friends/associates, check out this Forums Classifieds and  my add for a Zephyr project - I would very much like to see this aircraft fly again and will negotiate accordingly.

    Not bad !  😇      " ANOTHER GENTLE SUGGESTION  "

    Sorry, I can't stop crying from laughing !  😂

Thanks for the advice Butch - I will do as you request, when Forum members cease to make the occasional (ie infrequent)  statement or  ask a  question, that leads very nicely into me making  a very infrequent a gentle suggestion or two.

You would appear to fly an excellent all metal Italian job - evidence would suggest that you are given to gross exaggeration -  so why not put your talents in this area to good use - give us a Tecnam spruik or two or do you feel the mark may not stand up to scrutiny?🤣

Glad to get your reply Skippy.

It all comes back to "would you buy a used car from this guy! " Only you can answer that question!

For a start I only hire aircraft from my local Flying Club ( I have done the sums, for me it works out cheaper! )

As for   " evidence would suggest that you are given to gross exaggeration " I am not bagging  the Aircraft you are trying to flog to death on this forum, they are probably a nice aircraft!

Maybe seeing your such a great guy at making " gentle suggestions" on a frequent basis, you could support this great site that Ian provides and become a First Class Member !

It's the least you could do seeing you get to offer a GENTLE SUGGESTION OR TWO.

But then again what would I know I'm prone to over exaggerate !       😁

Why limit yourself to 80+ knots when you could be Cruising at 134 knots  5400 rpm @ 18 L/h (75 % power). Stall 27 knots (single pilot) ATEC Faeta NG

    Gee Skippy,

How about making your New Years resolution the following......" I will not try and turn every post on this forum into a bloody ADVERTISMENT for the aircraft I sell ! "

    cheer's and Happy New Year.
