  1. I shared hangar space with Richard and his father David at Polo Flat, Cooma. Richard and David built and maintained a Searey and I had many an enjoyable cup of coffee with them. Richard was an experienced instructor and passionate about sea planes and amphibians. He also owned a Foxbat float plane. He once said, with tongue in cheek, that he loved dropping into Tuross Heads on the South Cost and taking a dip at lake Jindabyne before returning home to 'clean' off. Richard was a gentleman, generous in spirit with a quick wit and laconic sense of humour. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and close friends. Funeral is 12pm Wednesday 6 July at Mitchell, Canberra.

I have a Cassutt Racer in the hangar at Polo Flat. There is an active RAA school on site but at this time of the year they tend to operate in the morning. There is fuel on site. The main strip is some 5000 feet in length with a bitumen centre of 2500 feet. Circuits on the main strip are out to East to avoid overflying the town. The cross strip is not often used so it is rough. There is a radio mast on the Southern end. The gliding club 15 km to the North at Bunyan may be operating so check 122.7 on the way through.Check your Ersa and give Mike a call because the cattle may be out if it is quiet. Have a good flight.

    Cheers
