Looking forward to the next one! Keep them coming

In response to what gibbo said about the pilots, I would just like to back that up. Great stuff guys and girls, from what I have seen on the news, that looks like some of the hardest (and bravest) flying that ive seen someone intentionally put themselves in that situation.
-
Congratulations Brett,
Lets hope I get to experience that feeling sometime soon aswell =]
-
Its not really meant to be a flying song I dont think, but every time I hear it I think about flying....
Its called 'Magic Carpet Ride' by Steppenwolf
-
You guys are making me jealous!!! I havnt had the oppurtunity yet to fly alongside an eagle, but I hope to one day :)
-
Very nice! Looking forward to hearing more

I was under the impression it was legal for the period of the airshow, as long as you had contacted them and made the arrangements???I don't want to rain on your parade Adrian, however if you're flying in during tower times you won't be legal without a PPL! Unfortunately GAAP entry requires a PPL. I wouldn't try it without.Personally, I have been into Avalon East probably 14-15 times and every time has been interesting and particularly busy and I wouldn't want to do something wrong! If you were heading in there bright and early before the tower opens you'll be ok as there won't be much happening. CASA will be on the ground for most of the day at Avalon East as they are every year and there will be a significant number of charter aircraft coming and going, such as Caravan's and Chieftain's.

Haha, I had that problem aswell!!! About 10 minutes after I posted my 2109th place post, i was in the hundreds of thousands..... I just logged in though and im at 9027!!!
-
Currently in 2109 th place for leg 4 =] Anyone in front of me?
-
Victoria to queensland??? Wow. Any idea of where in queensland he actually landed?
-
Picked that magazine up for the first time today, Its actually pretty good. I was surprised to see my friends in there about the UAV competition though, gonna have to give them XXXX now
-
Sounds Awesome. Im still waiting for Cadets to start gliding up again, and for my to have enough money to actually go, but Im hoping to go solo soon-ish, and Ill be able to enjoy those experiences aswell.
-
Hehe, now that you mention it, no one has really suggested any other sort of glider bar the Blanik in this thread..... There needs to be an argument, its getting boring around here :ah_oh:
-
Ok, im fairly sure none of you are last anymore, I am.
I got annoyed when I couldnt figure out which way to go, and left it for about a week and a half, and I ended up running aground. I just logged in, and realised where i needed to go, so now im making a measly 3.7 knots away from the island, and trying to get back on course =] Btw my boat is named Why So Serious
-
Unfortunately I have not had a chance to fly those other gliders at Boonah, but I can tell you I sure prefer the Blanik over the Puke.... I didnt mention it above, but I have been to Boonah once, and flown there. Oh and btw, the majority of my blanik hours are in WVP, your blanik =] I believe you just got it back from the air cadets?
I havnt been flying in a while, due to money issues, and it doesnt look like I will get to flying until I have visited Avalon in march, or at least saved the necessary money. I was debating wether to come to boonah and fly with the club there, as Air Cadets, while being cheaper, Dont fly as often as I would like.
-
Hey neil,
Wow, a tent =] I looked at that option and almost straight away said no. I suppose its a good idea if you have your own aircraft there i suppose. Have fun at lara, thats where I get off the train from melbourne to get the bus to avalon, but yes, you are right, the transport to avalon is great from lara.

So whos heading down to the air show this year( may aswell be 2009)???
I am putting in my deposits on accomodation, and paying for the air show tickets and flights tomorrow, I was really lucky to find some accomodation in melbourne, so Ill definately be down there.
Where are you guys coming from??? Where did you get accomodation (geelong, melbourne, lara, ballarat, etc?) How early did everyone else book???

Yea thats ok Niel. Casino is in northern NSW, so its a little too far. I may or may not give him a ring, depends on what happens. Ive got some pretty good info from this thread so far.
Anyway, im going to get off the computer now, thanks for all the information guys! Have a great one and keep on posting :)

Haha mate. He sounds great, but Casino? Yea no sorry. I drove down there a few weeks ago with my dad, and there is no way in the world Im gonna go that far. I mean Kev would be stretching my boundaries, so imagine casino i_dunno
-
Michael,
Good to hear about aircraft choice, I guess I will go have a few different TIF's and what not at different places and what not, and see what happens. I might also try out airsport at boonah like you suggested.
Cheers,
Nathan

I might try the drifter at one time or another, but Id prefer to be training on the technam or the sportstar.... Does he allow to start on those or do you have to start on the drifter?
-
Michael,
Unfortunately Im not interested in the drifter. Id much rather learn in a technam or an aircraft along those sorts of lines. Dunno why, but little things like the drifters dont appeal to me
-
Awesome.
Does anyone know if he has a website or anything along those lines? Or anything that could provide more information?
-
Ha ha nice. It will probably be a few weeks to maybe 2 months till I get into it, it all depends on how much work pays me! Ill defeinately be having a look at kev though, and we will have to see what Tony says about your proposition adam :P

Im fairly sure the caboolture statement is correct. It looks very much like the plane says 'CABOOLTURE RECREATIONAL AVIATION' or something along those lines, and I have seen a few aircraft with that type of writing at caboolture.
Thats very interesting though, because Im sure I have been in a circuit with that aircraft when gliding at caboolture. Could be wrong though.
EDIT - Just looked into it a little bit more, definately from Caboolture, typing the rego of the jab into google produces a clear picture of it in the first website.
