Great tip on Tooradin, anyone in particular to call there?

There was a sportstar in BDG last week courtesy of Peter Harlow, the Australian distributor of the aircraft. It is a fantastic aircraft, not just by looks but it flies very well and thus this thread.

Not a probs! It is quite funny to read the replies. BTW since everyone is reading this, any ideas or prices or hanger costs at Lilydale or Coldstream?

hi drizzt1978, yes you are absolutely correct, you can buy 3 x J120 for one brand new SportStar, or 2 x J120 for a demo. However having said that you get what you paid for. I have nothing against Jabs as I fly them myself but if there is a choice, I would prefer another aircraft. I would recommend that you make contact with the Australian Distributor, Peter Harlow to have a test fly in the SportStar and I would love to hear your feedback after the test flight. Anyone interested in a SportStar Syndicate based in Victoria? I had a fly in the new SportStar SL last weekend and it was a fantastic aircraft. There is a brand new aircraft arriving in July 2009 and it would great if there were interests to syndicate this aircraft. If you would like to test fly this aircraft there is a demo aircraft in Vic right now. Basic points will be: * 8 members @ $22,000 each. This will cover the cost of the aircraft with some money in the bank. * monthly cost to cover hangerage, and insurance. Hanger to be discussed by the members. * hourly rate when you fly - which will cover fuel and some for maintenance. This can be discussed by the members. * booking of the aircraft will be via the internet so it is easy for all members to book. * members will need to be have a minimum of at least 100 hours of flying experience Any other points can be discussed by the syndicate members. If you are interested, pls PM me and we can start talking with SportStar and see if we can secure the aircarft in July 2009.

We got a wonderful Storch. We have announced this to the club and anyone is very excited with the procurement of this aircraft. We cannot wait for the arrival of the aircraft :-).

I am looking for a training aircraft for the Bendigo Flying Club as our plane is being serviced. Does anyone know if there is any aircraft owner who might be interested in x-hiring short term to our club? The aircraft needs to meet RA-Aus requirements as a training aircraft.

Hi All, all comments makes very interesting read. My question is, if the temperature is say 40 degrees, the ground (if it is tar) plus cabin temperature would be a lot higher. Anyone could comment on the safety of the fuselage and electronic component should the aircraft remain outside? An example if I may start, in the RAAus mag last year, there was a great story on how to maintain your Rotax engine and sometimes, to a newbie like myself, high tension cable without insulation might be touching the Rotax engine which in turn might cause wear and tear at a great rate, without me noticing it. Is there something that we should be checking on the Jab with such high temps?

Hi Stefan, sounds like you have been missed lead. RVAC does have recreational aircraft for hire, as I hire them at Coldstream. RVAC Moorabbin does not have any RAAus registered aircraft and those that are there you will require a PPL with control airspace endorsement. The hire rate at Coldstream is very reasonable at $130 an hour for a non member. They have a Jabiru J160C and a Tecnam P92 Super Echo. Alternatively if you are keen to take the train (VLINE) to Bendigo (http://www.bendigoflyingclub.org) you can hire a Tecnam P92 Super Echo there for $115 an hour. Hope this helps!
