  1. Plenty of aviation history and sights to see in Darwin and environs Bones. Many of the early pioneering flights had to stop in here for their island-hopping adventures so there's all types of plaques and displays scattered about. We live on a curved road which was originally a taxiway for the Parap runway in WW2. Great for aviation buffs to enjoy and for those like me who just like discovering a bit of local history.

Nice time of the year to get around. Enjoy!

  2. Very cool Xavier.....have to work on the product name tho'.....body bag aligns you with Dexter, Christal sounds like something you might purchase in an X-rated shop. Cheers Des

  3. Hi Everyone,Finally got the Yellow Hornet back into the air today after doing quite a bit of maintenance, here's her first flight after two and a half months of sitting idle. Here's a few pics of a trip to Gunn Point approx 25nm East of Darwin. The conditions were perfect, even a little chilly, thought at one stage that I could do with a light jacket. Anyway here's a few pics.

    Hi Kev,

Nice to see the Hornet on the move again. Thought it was you on the radio.

  4. I didn't fly today. Spent couple hours at 30 kts winds scraping the ice off the wings and shoveling.

It's the last photo that did it! We can fry eggs on a car bonnet and your plane is sitting out the middle of nowhere by itself in a blizzard of white cold. I feel cold just looking at it.

Thanks for the great photos Vlad.

    Cheers Des

  5. HI All, my Wife and I have started training for our ra pilot certificate. She is at s & l and Im one lesson ahead on c & d, we are training with different flight schools at different airports. We are both loving flying and progressing well, we have already found that our instructors have very distinctive approaches to training, being more relaxed and hands on as opposed to clinical and hands off, barring excercises. It will be interesting to see how we progress! Happy aviating:slap:

Welcome Ausspark. You'll be in for a great journey!

My wife and I learnt together. Same airstrip, same times, different instructors and different aircraft (Tecnam and Jabiru). Chased each other around the circuits many a time. Great for debriefs over a glass or two.

  6. Hi and welcome Des, I completed my XC and PAX endorsements in 2016.The PAX endo is a piece of cake, the XC was a little more significant, but it is so worth it, and fun.

Hi Tony. Thanks for the encouragement. Wife learnt in an Eaglet, me in a Jabiru......lots of friendly debate there!
