Not saying it's the case here, but there are some dodgy L2's and bogus LAME's getting about RAAus. It'd be good to have a look at the wing tip.It means apen is more experienced than the L2 and Lame? -
Just read Bearded Micks? November and December editorials, plus a couple of other articles. There appears to be some lazy journalism in the magazine, as they copy and pasted a young fellas comment from an AOPA Australia Facebook page post, and claimed it as a "Letter to the Editor".Having just been shown a copy (as I no longer receive it myself) of M.Monk’s editorial in the current magazine which caused a bit of mirth, at least locally, normal irrelevant stuff until the last couple of paragraphs - it would be ironic if 4 board members throw him out after the mini non representative board was his (and a couple of others) claim to fame in order to gain autocratic control of RAA. There might be some light at the end of the tunnel after all, if they go through with it.Shades of the Rudd & Turnbull saga just up the road.
In regards to the editorials and the like, it's known that there's a number of con-artists among the RAAus membership and management who would make ol'Baron Munchausen look pretty modest and honest, but do people blindly believe the tripe put out by the Executive/Management/Board members? Are RAAus members the intelligent, Well Educated Morons (iWEMs for short), they appear to be?
It might end up being the case that Mick does a runner like the former Safety Officer and Tech Manager, to avoid facing any responsibilities and accountabilites.

The "Board" is now a board of directors, no longer a board of management where the board members managed an association day by day and communicated with the members.
Most companies communicate with their customers through the CEO, Managers and appointed officials.
Directors usually show up at board meetings and look at company performance for the period, e.g. monthly or quarterly; they may call a manager in to the meeting to explain something, but that's about it.
So as much as the new structure has thrown up problems like this, the directors haven't deviated much from what would be expected of them.
Remember, many people have said on this forum over the years, "I only want to fly", and the famous words of one contributor; "No sense having a dog and barking yourself"
The families and friends who have lost loved ones, or caring for those with serious injuries might have something to say if they found out about the dodgy conduct of RAAus staff. And the public shouldn't be funding an organisation like the current RAAus.

Fraud (including Corporate), Coverups, etc., etc...One can only wonder just what is going on down in Canberra.... -
It'd be good to have a read of the Deed of Agreement. Might be best to check its last amendment date beforehand.Yes. Under the Deed of Agreement with CASA, RAAus receives in excess of $100,000 from CASA. The link on the website to this agreement seems to be broken. It is uncertain if RAAus will receive any funds from CASA under the Part 149 arrangements due to the operation of Sec 97AB of the Act which CASA has been ignoring for years. -
Does RAAus receive money from the government in its deal with CASA to administer RAAus pilots and aircraft operations?Just wait for the new admentents to the ops manual in process now, being forced through by the dictatorship of the current mini board (i.e 3 plus 1).It would be alleged as a favour to “mates” at a particular flying school!
Sad reflection on what we have left of RAA, but expected. I haven’t seen ANYTHING from administration to members about this.
If members accept this then I am left speechless.

Found another thread on the Rec. Flying Forum, with a very similar topic to this one. Search for the thread "Past accident info......??". Cheers

Good news, StorchyNeil hasn't been paid a visit from "the Family" making him an offer he can't refuse. He's taking a break from the Forum, as understandably, dealing with some of the Morons who won't listen, takes it's toll, and he's had a gutfull. Cheers

No worries BlurE. Was hoping others on here may even live closeby to Neil, or have acquaintances who do, and could check up on him. Cheers

Did anyone have any luck getting in contact with Neil?

You Mob are being played for the Fools that you are.
The aircraft in the Wentworth accident was an Aeropro Eurofox 3K. The Aircraft details area on the related ATSB page has the model recorded only as an Aeropro 3K 100hp. Although the RAAus aircraft database has it listed as Manufucturer: Euro Fox. Model: 3K 100hp.
https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2018/aair/ae-2018-072/
http://flysafe.raa.asn.au/admin/aircraft_database_registration.html
What could be slightly disturbing to some people, is that RAAus hasn't really mentioned anything about the accident or offered simple condolences, but posted photos on Facebook, of an intact Eurofox from their recent staff training day.

Yeah, I've been doing some research, and looking beyond the standard fare put out by RAAus, CASA and the ATSB. I think if you do some research, and keep your ears and eyes open, you'll find in reality the Recreational Aviation Australia has more of a hand in the investigation of a fatal crash, than just providing assistance to the police. The level of expertise and integrity of the information and advice they provide would also be questionable. That could also be applied to both CASA and the ATSB. Evidence does not have to be released to the general public, but should be correctly examined and leads followed up on. It's understandable that the above organisations would not be prepared to investigate things too deeply, with the risk of implicating themselves. The recent Coroners Report was quite good considering the constraints placed on the reports, but still leaves a number of questions unanswered. Also, there may be a number of reasons why it was a bit more thorough than usual. Cheers
-
It's been raised all the way up to the RAAus CEO. The offer was put forward after a number of fatals, etc. in North Queensland that had links identified. It fell on deaf ears, and it's only a matter of time before some poor innocent sod will be fleeced of his cash, and branded with a cockpit dash. One fool has already got played on kit-build helicopter. That's exactly the sort of stuff we need to raise in a direct call to the head honcho- especially before an election.- 1
-
That's pretty close to the mark. You'll find some of the Accident and Defect summaries are vague for a reason, investigations (including fatals) aren't followed through correctly, and critical information isn't being passed on to where it should be.THEY don't use the experience and skills out in the Ranks. They have the system as they want it. "Under Control". Nev- 1

That's similar to the recent accident out near Wentworth in which 2 young guys (20 and 22) lost the lives. There appears to be no mention of it or condolences from the RAAus "Family".Not just them,I asked on This forum about a pilot that crashed his HummelBird,Dead silence,
almost deafening
I still don't know if Ron is OK,

Any luck with a response? Did he have any business contact details that may still work? Hopefully he's just having a break from the forum, and it's nothing serious.

Blasphemer!!!Perhaps, after 4+ years they have found that the SMS isn't actually working? If people are just copying and pasting on a computer to complete paperwork like they are doing a BAS, this could create an issue.- 1
-
We'll have to wait and see if it's legit, or another bit of spin. It might only be for select flying schools.Agree. At the Rockhampton PDP at end of June RAA said they had an SMS written that was being made available to all flying schools so they could edit it for their operation thereby meeting their requirement of an SMS with minimum effort. I took that as a great piece of work that would assist greatly flying schools in a good way. Cheers- 1

Turbo’s Safety Management System is why - every Flying School now has to have one. So whats proposed is a pyramid system where an over arching Flight Training organisation big enough to have the resources to afford the SMS, and Office manager (to keep up with all the BS paperwork and compliance issues) who sees to it that satelite schools preach to the ever increasing standards being imposed by those above. I’ts a system where flying schools do the work for RAA head office. There are changes similar to this going on in the GA training regime as we speak, I know of two who have decided not to continue to operate because of it. We are being screwed in every direction and are expected to like it.
"One of the first wins Katie had was an agreement by the regulator that RAAus could develop an organisation wide SMS so that each of our schools did not have to go out and build their own. This was a massive success for RAAus. Straight away the new role was paying dividends. Many of our schools are run by a single person, or are relatively small operations. Having RAAus invest and develop an SMS on their behalf was a massive win. It also meant that the planned six month job, grew to be a whole lot bigger. Katie’s contract was extended and the real work of building an SMS started. Three and a half years on and Katie has all but put the finishing touches on the SMS".
This was quoted from an article written by the RAAus CEO on page 14 of the August 2017 Sport Pilot magazine, thanking Katie for her work at RAAus. Did the SMS plan fall through, or was it always intended for each school to still need its own specific SMS? Cheers

Could probably ask about it at the AGM.

Have a look at the thread "Lightwing Models ?". Scroll down a bit on page 2 of this "Lightwing" folder/header/group of threads. It was started back in late 2011, and has old pics and some history on 19-3263. Doug Evans may be able to shed some light on further info. or who to contact, etc. Cheers

With his successful election, if anyone is yarning with Mr Bayley, can they let him know that the bloke from his FEB 18 Sport Pilot article, isn't a LAME, nor an Aircraft Engineer. He might want to have a polite word with Mr Barnfield and Mr Middleton as they could/should have corrected him. Cheers

Twas me that told you to have a Google. There are news articles which state it, but go and have a read/review of Coroners Reports, Sport Pilot articles, Enews, ATSB website, etc. as a start. CheersOne Track, you tell me to Google it and now you say that your family police people are the source. I don't think that is very convincing frankly. IF there's enough reason including death or public outcry, the USUAL CASA authorised people investigate as was the case with the Ferris wheel incident and Airline and GA situations -
Yes. A simple Google search will help you hunt down the facts.Does it?. the Police have the responsibility for RAAus accident investigation. The RAAus MAY be called in to assist. Nev
