1. The aileron can cause the wing to twist near the tip which reverses the effect of the aileron. The mod is a tube between the rear and front spars held in place by a formed wrap around sheet aluminum piece at each end. This stiffens the wing and prevents the twisting effect.

Appreciate the help, great info. Thanks Bob

  2. Good day, can anyone tell me if they have ever rebuilt the wings on a chinook w t-11 single. Iam looking at buying a chinook this week. Has 384 hours always hangered but was built in 1983, was first chinook on floats by the factory owner. The second owner has had it since 1984 and it is mint condition. A challenger pilot told me to watch out as wing leading edge will warp close to VNE. Has anyone added extra bracing to a chinook wing or rebuilt with new aluminum. Any info would be greatly appreciated from someone whos had one of these. Regards Lobster Bob, Canada

  3. HelloI may be in Toronto in February and would be interested in going flying in a recreational aircraft. I have a GA licence and a RA-Aus Pilot Certificate.

A dual flight is fine. Can anyone provide some info as to locations, recreational aircraft, rates etc?

    Thank you

Good day. Did you get to Toronto in February? If not let me know as I can recommend a great uncontrolled airport and good pilots to guide you around. Not far from Niagara Falls etc. Cheers

  4. Bob,This time, thankfully, no!....I`ve been through 5 Cyclones, my first was at 9 years of age....Our Cyclone season doesn`t officially end until the end of April so there`s still the possibility I may have to add another one...The yellow pins inside the blue line is our property so we get knocked around a bit when a Cyclone hits the area.

Great to hear mate it must be very scary. Looks like you are not far from the Ocean. Beautiful country. Cheers

  5. Rugged radios have some very good sets in the US the set I got is fantastic and I use hearing aids in normal life but they are not needed at all with the rugged set,.

Hey All,After 41 years after getting my PPL and not continuing to fly, I'm jumping in head first once again. I've taken my first lesson and am hooked once again. Can I get some recommendations of an affordable yet good quality headset? I'll be flying 172's for the moment.

    Thanks!

Welcome aboard, I am a new member myself. I have been using a soft comm headset from aircraft spruce aviation supply company since 2007 it rugged, comfortable, reasonably priced. Wore it 5 hour cross country no pain. Company is in California. Give one a try. Cheers Bob

  7. G`day Bob, 098_welcome.gif.81ff07d492568199326e4f64f78d7bc6.gif......I`m a recreational pilot also, starting way back from the early days of the Australian Ultralight Federation (AUF)...In the last couple of months, I`ve taken some Canadian backpackers flying in my Drifter...I fly from my own property, here at Deeral, NTH Queensland.

  8. Hello Bob and welcome, you won't be the only train driver on here, oops sorry, locomotive engineer but I can tell you its way more fun in the air than leaving it I 8 notch. Enjoy

Appreciate the welcome. I will be retiring in 18 months. It will be a sad day as I love railroading but then I will have more time to fly and travel. I hope to take my grandchild up this summer. Which railroad are you working, I knew a hogger from Queensland Rail, Mike Torrens but lost contact with him after I moved in2010. Keep in touch. Cheers Bob

  9. Hello, I'm a recreational pilot living in Oakville, Ontario Canada and love flying and hanger talk. I am presently negotiating to purchase a Challenger 11 advanced ultralight. I would like to hear about and someday fly in Australia. For you railroad enthusiast I have been a railroader for almost 40 years mostly as an locomotive-engineer. Please drop me a line and say hello. Bob
