  1. I have replaced the Senswitch wood propeller on my U.S. J230 with another Senswitch wood propeller. I have been told that JABIRU Australia suggest installing the propeller 60 degrees off from the manufacturer's instructions. Does anyone know this to be true and if so why? Compsci
  2. Jetjr, I did look at that diagram. There are differences with my (US ) J230. My J230 has air breathers on the winglets. I have Queried Jabiru USA about problem and will post their answer.
  3. Jetjr, US built J230 have a mechanical shut-off switch for each wing tank and a third switch by the brake for total fuel shut-off. The "taps" are working. I believe that there is a separate cross feed between the two tanks that allows the condition that I described. Compsi
  4. David, I did, indeed, mean a mechanical switch. I owned a retractable Piper Saratoga before I bought my J230. There is a significant difference, in the U.S., between a FAA certified aircraft and the consensus standard LSA aircraft. LSA aircraft are new and allow design and construction practices that would be unacceptable in FAA certified aircraft. I am learning to live (I hope) with these limitations.
  5. I have tried turning off the switch for the right wing tank and leaving the left wing tank switch on. I now am getting reasonably equal flow from both tanks. I assume that fuel from the right wing tank is crossing over to the left wing tank.
  6. The left wing fuel tank on my J230 does not feed fuel when both wing tanks are set to on. However, the left wing fuel tank does feed fuel when I shut off the right wing tank. I would normally expect that the wing tanks will not feed equally but don't understand one tank not feeding at all. Is this normal for the J230?
  7. An update on having the fuel tanks drained. There is now very few particles at the bottom of the glass when I sump the fuel.
  8. pduthoit...my Jabiru cost at least that amount. Anyhow good design does not have to be expensive. The trim control would not get a passing grade in my class at Northwestern University.
  9. Gas Man...Yes please post a photo of your modification of the trim control. Thanks..
  10. I had the fuel tanks drained and did not reuse the same fuel. Also changed the fuel filter and cleaned the spark plugs. Found lots of fiber glass at the drain sight on the wing tanks, but no much elsewhere. Fill the empty tanks with thirty four gallons of fresh fuel. I still see many small dust size particles when I sump the fuel tanks.
  11. The trim control on my J230 is somewhat difficult to move. I am considering added some sort of attachment to it to give me more leverage. Has anyone modified their trim control by possibly making it longer or just easier to move?
  12. My new J230 (USA) has composite/fiberglass material in the fuel. We found much material in the carburetor needle valve and the fuel filter which was then removed and the fuel filter replaced. Now when I sump the fuel tanks I can see many very small particles in the sample. Is this a dangerous situation and what can be done about?
  13. I believe that there is room for the replacement petals, hydraulic units, etc. Other LSA aircraft with the same space limitations and the RV6 have them.
  14. Has anyone looked into adding toe-brakes for the J230 or talked to Jabiru about their including toe-brakes as an option? It appears to me that they have most of the mechanism for hydraulic brakes and just need to add units to each rudder petal.

    J230 Tow bar

I would appreciate your sending me a photo of your home made tow bar. You can send it to my email address: [email protected]. Thanks

    J230 Tow bar

I just bought a J230 at Sebring Florida for delivery in May. I don't believe that Jabiru(US) provides a tow bar. Has any one located/using a tow bar for the 230?

    J250 Vs J230

I'm looking to buy either a J250 or a J230. My understanding is that the only difference between the two is the wing. I think that I like the shorter wider wing on the J250. I don't know why they made the J230's wing longer and narrower.
  18. I am a retired Computer Science Professor who may have to let his medical lapse. I currently own a Piper Saratoga PA32R301. I fly out of Chicago Exectutive Airport (PWK). I am considering buying a Jabiru J250 or J230. I just had a demo flight and like the flight characteristics but found the Trim and Rudder controls very stiff. In fact I was unable to move the Trim control during my demo flight. I will be going to Sebring, Florida this January to look at the other Light Sport Aircraft.
