No it would not and a centrifugal compressor may be your best bet. A turbocharger can double as a jet engine if you add a combustion chamber. Nev

Pressure ratios in Jet engines are not that high. I don't think you will pull much of a vacuum either. You can also stall axial flow compressors often requiring bleed valves Centrifugal is more stable, higher pressures but less efficient and larger in diameter. Nev

It HAS to be rotating to produce the Large drag situation. (aerodynamic) A free spool motor would be less. Look after overspeeding too. Maybe stick to fixed pitch. Nev

You need a pretty fancy prop on a turbine. IF it overspeeds and flames out it can absorb an immense amount of thrust/ create drag multiples of it's rated thrust. Overspeeding can also cause the Prop to shed blades. Nev

Noise and privacy matters may be contentious. A single seater avoids a lot of loadshift complications. There must still be things to know about the air you're working in. Effect of local winds , climbing away downwind etc. IF it has a self landing ability maybe the medical can be relaxed????? Nev

Most pilot's find a simulator harder to fly than the real thing. People who fly simulators a lot know how to trick the thing and "Play the GAME" as it's called. Nev

Reverse thrust is most effective at high speed. If the spoilers didn't deploy and the runway was wet, that would explain the lack of retardation, With a heavy landing the springboard effect on a long fuselage could have injured the Pilots .I had my back injured when in the Jumpseat of an A-300 600 R. The fuselage is intact although well damaged. The "other Brand " usually breaks up into 3 sections.. Some weather conditions are beyond safe. Planes are expected tp fly 24/7 We take many things for granted. Nev

The potential reliability is worth pursuing. Early products won't be cheap but prices always go down with numbers built. Pistons in the commercial area are almost gone and good riddance I say. For US though, provided we realise ALL our engines can fail at any time and fly accordingly it's not the immediate answer. Electric will be part of the mix long before a fossil fuel expensive motor. It's great to see an improved efficient principle being developed. Up till now it's been bypass ratio and turbine blade temps and variable incidence guide vanes etc. Nev
