Great info Ross, I have OziExplorer and Mio Pocket 2.0 running on my Navman s30.
Now it's just a matter of buying good map and entering way points.
thanks

Hi John
Barwon Head airport not far from you, I fly a trike from there, probably one of the trikes you see flying around your sky's. There is a range of aircraft here, trikes, gyro's, heli, ultralight and GA stuff... Drop by sometime, I think they do BBQ's most Sundays around lunchish or you can find out more info at Home Page
cheers

When you zoom out, it still shows names of towns close by, rivers, coastlines, forests etc... so for XC as a cheap alternative to expensive aviation gps, it's ok, I would still do manual calculations, but you have the added benefit of using GPS to help keep you on track and check your ground speed. Obviously it won't do flight calculations and show airspace.

Hi just use my Navman GPS, same I use in car, but I zoom the map screen out and display the speed (in KM). It's fine for general flying and maps in colour with big screen.
