Guest Andys@coffs
Hi Having recently moved from Adelaide to Coffs I can advise that the Adelaide Soaring Club has Jab's for hire, it owns one and cross hires 2 more, one of which is a 230. It is based in Gawler north of Adelaide. Glen is the ownerand anyone at the ASC can probably put you in touch with him. He used to be a member of this site but I cant find him when I went looking at the member list. Google the Adelaide soaring club and all will be revealed Andy
pdriussi
Thanks Andy, I will look them up. I am new to the Adelaide area, came down from Lismore, NSW. Will look around for other places also. Pete
Guest Andys@coffs
So depending on where in Adelaide you are the options available are:- North = ASC at Gawler or if interested in PPL or RAA then there is also access from Parafield. East = Murray Bridge South = Aldinga or further out strathalbyn (Trikes) or Goolwa Jabs used for instruction at Gawler and Murray Bridge, I dont recall if at Aldinga, memory seems to throw up that its mainly tecnams , which are also available from Murray Bridge. Sportstar from Parafield Andy
Guest basscheffers
Aldinga also trains in and hires out SportStars. Plus Sports Cub for tailwheel. Pete: where abouts in (near) Adelaide are you? I'm at Golden Grove and fly out of Parafield; I own the SportStar that's used for training there. Bas.
REastwood
Hi, Goolwa Rec. Flying school has two J230D's available for hire & fly. One is fitted with Garmin 495 + transponder. Check out Goolwa Airport S.A. for more info. Cheers, Richard.

pdriussi
Happy to fly anything, just have only flown Jabs in RA. Maybe a good opportunity to get into something new. Have the CASA medical cause started off doing GA until I realised that I couldnt afford it. And have the ASIC etc so flying ex Parafield is an option too. Guest basscheffers
If you want to keep flying Jabs, Gawler would be the place to do it; close by and great rates. To fly out of Parafield you'll need a PPL or go through some training so the CFI is happy to have you flying in CTA. Not sure how much is needed! (Everyone that does it on RA, like me, started there ab-initio.) If you have nothing better to do on Saturday arvo, drive up to Truro Flats for their annual fly-in. Can even have dinner and stay overnight if you want. I'll be flying the Sporty there early arvo, but only stay for a few hours. Good way to meet some local flyers! pdriussi
Thanks guys for your info. Those who will be at Truro this Saturday, I might see you there, I will make the drive to meet a few locals. Gawler sounds like the place to try out first! Thanks again. Pete
Guest basscheffers
Hope to see you there! I'm flying in in SportStar 4467 and I'll be the big bloke with the black AeroScene t-shirt. Bas.
Guest basscheffers
Well, I never made it to Truro. :( Did a run-up and the left ignition cut out on me! So now the Sporty is U/S until it gets fixed. Hopefully won't be too long. It cut out completely during run up (3 times I tried) but after taxiing back and trying some more, left was just very rough. The mechanic suspects the switch or wiring but obviously won't know until he checks it out. Did a flight earlier in the day and was running perfect, so this was quite unexpected. :(
pdriussi
Thats always unfortunate, but ... its always better to find it on the ground before you go then on the ground after you go! Good luck with the repairs and probably see you at the next local fly-in. Where ever that may be? Made it up there, saw the two J230's from Goolwa, very nice aircraft. Also some other amazing aircraft. Innovative people, some great home built craft and also some very cool RV's made it too. I love those planes. Going to go up to Gawler today and meet some people there. Thanks again for your information/help. See you all in the air about SA in the future.
