If you enjoy tinkering with airplanes, or just want to increase your general knowledge of engines and airframes, I strongly recommend that you subscribe to a publication called "Light Plane Maintenance"

LPM is a monthly publication aimed at the airplane owner who likes to do the simple maintenance on his airplane, or who would like to increase his general knowledge about engines, airframes and the things that make them work. The publication covers a wide range of topics over the year, and the articles are written in a down-to-earth style that's not overly technical. As you read the articles, you can tell that the writers are Maintenance Engineers with the requisite experience, not slick journalist regurgitating other's words. The company I work for has been getting the publication for years, and it hits the lunchroom table as soon as the mail arrives. Everyone reads it.

The publication has a Web Site, but it is only one page, and pretty pathetic.

You can use the site to subscribe to the publication, or you can send your Name, Address and Credit card details to:

Light Plane Maintenance

PO Box 420325

Palm Coast

Florida 34142-0235

USA

A 12 month subscription costs $US79. You can also buy back issues if you need to go back to the start of a multi-part article.

(QED Aircraft Parts and Hardware has no commercial relationship with the publishers of Light Plane Maintenance)
