The 2005 Changes to Operations at Non-Towered Aerodromes

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to complete my theory studies, and have finally found the information in a nutshell.

The workbook I am working from talks about MBZ's and CTAFs, but as we know MBZ is the old way, and changed some time ago.

Here is an online publication that explains the changes and the new correct ways.

Why isn't there a text book that is concise and up-to-date to learn from, instead of having to search and search for answers to the many old workbook questions?

No if only I could find accurate and easy to understand information regarding SAR. (SARWATCH(IFR) and SARTIME(VFR)). If think I have it right.

You'd better add these to your study resources as they are the most current that I'm aware of.

SARtime/SARwatch will be buried in the AIP

That SkySailor article really isn't a lot of use - it describes the rule changes made in 2005 and is now wrong in a number of critical areas such radio broadcasts, where radio is mandatory and the give way rules.

Try the visual flight rules guide on the CASA website http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD::pc=PC_90008 but bear in mind it is aimed at GA pilots so there are some differences for recreational aircraft (refer to the relevant CAO for these).

Looking in the Index for AIP points to ENR 1.1 - 84/85 for SARTIME/SARWATCH information, but after reading it it kind of only gives you your requirements regarding cancellation/ lodging them. I guess you could start with reading that but it may not be exactly what you are after. I dont have my AIP on hand unfortunately (its sitting at work) and I cant find the definitions list online, but there may also be a general description in there, however I couldnt say for sure.
