General Electric J79 Conversions.

A couple of videos from S&S Turbine Services, in Canada. They overhaul industrial turbine engines & work on old F4 Phantom & Starfighter J79 turbojets, converting them to LM1500 turbo-shafts mainly for power generation. They have a lot of Youtube videos which are quite interesting to watch for anyone into these old engines.

Pity these explanations weren't around when we were learning about the engines in our aeroplanes we were about to fly.we learned the theory and limitations bur I never knew what many of the fiddly bits were when a cowl was open.

Yes, he's certainly got a simple & entertaining way of giving a description of the workings. Always amazes me how simple the principle of turbines are, they look fairly tinny inside, but I guess they rely on top quality metal, engineering & tolerances etc. It must be a Canadian thing, I've never noticed much use of industrial turbines here in Australia.
