Neil Denmark Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I suspect that the press to talk button on pilot seat control stick is failing due to intermittent transmit function. Has had a lot of use over last 28 years! Has anyone got any tips on how to inspect/replace this switch in the Gazelle?
smokey487 Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Hiya Neil They are just a PTT from jaycar be a few bucks worth and usually soldered on, Cheers 1
Neil Denmark Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Thanks for the reply and info Smokey! Armed with the fact that PTT are cheap and available - I will have a go at pulling it apart 🙂

If its failed, after many years of service, it is likly beyond economic repair. As Smokey said - just research what your local electronic store (JayCar in Australia) has to offer. They likly have many diffrent sizes & styles to choose from. Measure the dimensions of the old switch and use this to narrow your search. 1
Neil Denmark Posted Monday at 08:36 AM Author Posted Monday at 08:36 AM Thanks Skippy - hard to see in the photo? Went for a fly today. PTT worked fine on the pre take off call but then not working once airborne. Just working out how to remove the PTT switch - probably replace the rubber hand grip too. No idea where to get a new one? Bike shop? 1
skippydiesel Posted Tuesday at 12:17 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:17 AM No experince on your aircraft type so pure speculation on how to remove; You will need to expose the bottom of the stick, to free up the PTT wires. This may be as simple as unplugging spade/bullet connectors & removing cable ties OR you may have to cut the wires. If cutting do so with care and a plan to reconnect/install. Its likly that once wires free, you can then slide (with difficulty) the hand grip up - the PTT switch will go with it. Once the handgrip is off the stick removing the switch should be easier. depending on how the switch has been secured Vice Grips, used with care, may be your friend😈
