Ga bak & ppl

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at converting from RAA to GA. Went to FTF the other day and the bloke said to get the PPL exam out of the before doing the flying. I had a look on the CASA site and it says BAK must be done prior to sitting the PPL exam.

I did the RAA BAK so does this count or do I need to sit the GA one before doing the PPL exam?

Thanks

Scott

You'll need to do the GA BAK if you only have the RA one (I was advised to do the GA one anyway - saves doing both).

Main difference I think is that the GA one has more questions on weight and balance so you'll need to know your loading charts (alpha, bravo, etc).

Not necessarily!

There are 2 trains of thought on this one.

I went from RA-Aus to GA and DIDN'T do the GA BAK, but rather just did the single PPL(A) exam.

There are people on here who will no doubt comment that say that the GA BAK is a pre-requisite for sitting the PPL exam. This is probably technically correct.

Either way, I NEVER did a PPL BAK and I have a shiny ASIC card and PPL.
