  1. The Jabiru 170's (esp the C & D's) are fantastic aircraft. The longer wings give you a better flare and take off a little sooner. The shorter wing 160's fly great to but I prefer the bigger wing jabs. I have not notice poor x wing performance but because the flare is a little longer you have to be able to manage you technique for a slightly longer period.

  2. My Skyecho works great (Ozrunways Ipad) unless you change the wifi settings and/or try to add a password. It's not really a huge problem as most aviators won't mess with it but I like a little security at busy locations.

For Around $900 bucks everyone should be carrying these thing's.

Also means the old school map an nav's exercises need to be reviewed and replace with electronic flight bags.

  3. Pushing one button to disconnect bluetooth is a bit hard I guess......

But I agree for those that only fly circuits, there's not much point.....

You have to hold it for about 3 sec and remember to do it. When you have your hand on the stick and one on the throttle you won't have time to deal with the phone. I use my phone to play music thru my headset but I always set it for Do Not Disturb. The last thing you want when flying a complex A/C on your own is distractions at the wrong time. There was a wheels up a few years ago with a Government minister's charter plane when the pilots phone rang at the wrong time.

  4. Sweden got it mostly right They failed to protect the elderly well enough but their death toll is very similar to their neighbors

Only 70 under 50's have died in Sweden. If Australia let it rip that would be a little over 160 deaths under 50's. Or around 40 days worth of suicide's Also worth noting anyone who tested positive for covid in the last 30 days is counted as a covid death(Sweden). You have to use all cause mortality to see whats going on. It has not moved out side the average.

2 minute youtube video explains it better than I can.

WHO say's covid 19 no longer a pandemic. WHO no longer uses ‘pandemic’ category, but COVID-19 still emergency

  5. A 200hp turbine would be a perfect match in my bus. 2000 hours in a privately owned AC is a lot I average just under 100 hours per year so it would take over 20 years to reach TBO. A new lycoming runs around $45,000 if your engine comes in under 60k I would very interested over that and I will probably pass given the price vs speed improvement. Fuel flow is not such a huge factor as long as it stays under 60 Lphr in the cruise.

All the best with your engine.

  6. Had an argument with my BFR instructor while doing a spin check. The aircraft would enter a spin but as soon as the rudder or stick pressure was relaxed it started flying again. He wanted a full spin recovery demonstration but as soon as the back pressure or rudder was centered the speed climed very quickly into the yellow arc I was on to this and would roll straight and get the nose up ASAP. He did not like the use of aileron which is true if it was still in a spin but not is a spiral dive with the speed getting away. Some people want to see the procedure rather than flying the plane hence the over speeds.

  7. I always reverse the name and say Traffic first then the name. Example "Traffic Parks blarr blarr" because when the mic is keyed sometimes you loose the first word also gives the receiver a chance to listen. As far as poor English is concerned you don't need to even have a radio when flying in class G, ergo no need to make calls at all let alone make them intelligible. Just saying :)

  8. There is zero evidence men and woman can work together. As an experiment we have been trying it for the last 50 years and it's not going so great. The worst work places are when you have a high ratio of females. Of course most work places now don't actually produce anything useful so it does not really matter.

A 2009 study published in the journal Gender in Management found, for example, that although women believe other women make good managers, “the female workers did not actually want to work for them.” The longer a woman had been in the workforce, the less likely she was to want a female boss.

  9. Here's a good question... if you are the only person in town who is not infected, can you stay that way by being careful?

The most expert person I have asked says the answer is "yes".

But Jerry does have a good point about households where one person is careless. I say that careless one should be legally liable for any harm they do to the rest. Yes I know this isn't the perfect solution, and the careful person would need to beware of other household members.

SO maybe the question should be " if you have the only household in town which is not infected, can you stay that way?"

The latest data is saying even if you live with someone with covid your chance of infection is only 15% You will not get a 100% infection rate.

Here is a German virologist talking about covid19 they have just finished a major study.

    Boom.

We wreaked our economy's for nothing. Under 50's with no comorbidity you are more likely to die in a car crash. Under 70 and you are still relatively safe.

We are going to stave over 150 million people Coronavirus pandemic 'will cause famine of biblical proportions' and suicide rate in Australia has increased by over 50%.

If only we had figured it out early hmmm.

Covid crisis was for the mathematical illiterate.

  11. j430 has to be GA registered as it has 4 seats. The factory does not want the risk of building certified GA so do it your self and fly experimental. Or buy the 230 and fly RAAus where "their" maximum weight is 600kg's. Even tho the airframe can safetly fly at 760kg the regulations say no.

It's the the rules not the air-frame that is imposing the limits.
