  1. Thanks Mathew,

We actually did about four hours between us and will not have the aircraft until built which should be in April sometime.

We also did around 10 hours of hangar talk and aircraft build inspections and I managed to get up close and personal with

Katie whilst Gary was off flying. We started off by chatting, then touching, moving on to gentle massage and eventually

rolling around the floor together....she certainly was a very friendly charles cavalier dog.

  2. Hi Guys, for those of you who have been following my threads I had mentioned that my Son-in-law and I were visiting Gary Morgan to view his Sierra and compare it with a Jabiru 230 with a view to purchasing one or the other (factory built). It was a hard decision, high wing or low wing plus of course performance etc. My son-in-law is just learning to fly whereas I have flown many types over 40 yrs.

There are many pros and cons as to which is best, high or low wing, I like both for different reasons.

I like high wings for touring purposes however when we sat in the 6 cyclinder Sierra the gauge on the instrument panel which depicts the age of the pilot, immediately spun backwards and settled on 18 yrs.

Wow!! I had always wanted to be a Spitfire pilot and after flying it my dreams were realised. My Son-in-law felt the same so the deal was done. Whilst Jabiru didn't get the aircraft sale they did get the engine sale and the money stays in Australia. The aircraft does EVERYTHING that Gary says it will do, and as I said to Gary "It is not as good as I thought it would be, it is much better than I thought it would be. I could write many pages on the subject of our trip, the aircraft and Gary's hospitality but I may be taking up too much space so If you want more, let me know.

From the two South Australian Morgan Spitfire Pilots.

P.S. The aircraft will be based at Gawler but we can still do fast hops to Taree.006_laugh.gif.0f7b82c13a0ec29502c5fb56c616f069.gif

  3. How close do you have to be to spot a power line.

A few years ago my son was driving home which was located a few miles north of Gawler SA which is the home of the Gawler Gliding Club.

He often witnessed gliders doing out-landings in the area and on this particular day stopped his car to watch a glider approaching a very

large paddock. His approach looked good except for the power line which he managed to fly underneath and made a perfect landing.

My son went into the paddock to see if he could be of any help and remarked to the pilot what a fantastic job he had done by sneaking

under the power line to which the pilot said.....WHAT POWER LINE.

  4. Thanks guys for your help, fantastic! I shall contact the relevant agents after Christmas before my Son-in-law and I visit Gary Morgan early January to check out his aircraft.

My Son-in-law does not like glass panels and I must admit I am a bit old school having flown many different types both GA and Recreational even a Meteor Mk7 when I was only

sixteen and none of those had Glass Panels, but did however have an Auto Pilot in a Beechcraft Sierra. I suppose we should be looking to modernize but there is something

nostalgic about all those ROUND dials.

Special thanks to IAN for providing this site where we can meet other interesting and very helpful flyers.

  5. Hi everyone,

Has anybody fitted an Auto Pilot to any of Gary Morgans aeroplanes in particular the

Cheetah or Sierra models if so which brand and the reasons for your choice.

Please no comments such as to why you would need one in the first place.

I realise that a glass panel (EFIS) would be required.

  6. Real name Alan Marriette used to live in GUERNSEY, now 39 yrs in SA, flown GA, Gliders and Ultralights now flying a Supa Pup mk4, a member of The Barossa Birdmen.

I am a 69 year old re-cycled teenager with a very warped sense of humour (at my age the Common Sense dissapears so you have to replace it with something else).:rotary:
