I've worked on a few 582 and the smaller Rotax's.  as well as a lot of race bikes.  582 is better than some others but it's nothing special in quality or  design. Better stuff is made today.. You have to be with the latest in 2 strokes IF you use them or you're nowhere unless you're a historical person.  Nev

i am surprised there is even a 2 stroke option available with emission laws now.

all the cheap chinese 2 strokes have left the shelves at bunnings.

what does a 582 weigh with ALL accessories ? 100 lbs ? so this with all accessories is 125 lbs... too much.
they call it a 582 replacement but that's alot of extra weight

i would love to see those engines sold here, perfect ultralight engines.

i thought the 582 was around 60kg installed with electric start.

I've looked into those and they are a good option with minimal fuss.  From memory the setup was around 12k which is definitely out of reach at the moment.

12k is a lot of money. is that through aerochute.

Opportunity for a Chinese replacement.     They make good parts for some of the best  brands  OEM.   There's nothing really "Special" about a 582. Except the market it serves. 2 strokes are more of a liability in the reliability area, but careful and knowledgeable operation helps a lot there  .Nev

the thing that makes a 582 special is it is built like a brick outhouse and very reliable. its the aero version of a 583 snowmobile engine. detuned from 100 hp to 64

Do you know the hrs of the engine and where is it located?

in melbourne.  i don't have log books so assume it must be rebuilt. it came out of a lightwing that had 700 airframe hrs. i don't know if the engine was in it for all those hrs.  at the moment it is around 7000 for a 503 rebuild. a 582 must be more than that. that is bert flood price.

Yes my health is not the best, wont ever pass a VH Medical again .

Hesitante to go RAA at the moment my lung condition doesnt like changes in air temp.

So the cost of it all is basicaly the cost of the engine.

    regards Bruce
