  5. Actually its not the size of the aircraft that's important but its wing loading!
  6. Santiago Berca is the winner of the Club Class division of the recent World Gliding Competition. The interview is about how XCSoar helped him to win.
  7. XCSoar v6.4.6 has been released.
  8. I have enjoyed your dad's films of gliding at Mt Isa. They are classics. Thanks for posting them.
  9. True, it would be better if there markers. But, presumably, the pilot did a full circuit. That's what a circuit is for - to pick up things like power lines.
  10. This is quite weird: Secret 'no-fly zone'.
  11. Unfortunately flying was cancelled yesterday (Jan 12) and today (Jan 13) because of weather. The forecast does not look good for the next few days - all the side effect of the cyclone off the WA coast.
  12. For those who are interested the daily results of the WA comps are here.

  17. Those of you who want to see XCSoar / SkyLines in action can go to the VH-GOT real time display - presently flying in the QLD comps.
  18. These movies are great. If you have any more you should not procrastinate. Digitize them now!
  19. I've never seen a Wilga in the "metal" but I think they have a type of utilitarian beauty. From what I understand they are well liked by their pilots. Does anybody know how many there are in Australia?
  20. Wave soaring in northen Sweden / Finland in winter. These guys must have a "lot of brass" - way too rugged for me.
  21. Thanks Mike, but I get Soaring Australia mags myself and I have read them. There is a risk in buying a Blanik for mod as you say. If I was in the market for a Blanik this alone would be enough to put me off. So, I think that they are history, I'm afraid. Its a pity because they trained a couple of generations of pilots.
