  1. That's my mates old plane from a few hangar's down. Had a great cruise speed and went well. I really miss seeing it around. Hope it serves you well. I wish now that I had bought that plane instead of building my Sonex.

  2. I have no idea about the single seat MTOW or that sort of thing. Mine came in at just over 320kg for the two seater. I think a lot of weight is in the wings. 3 x spars and a heap of ribs, throw in a painter like me being a bit eager on the trigger of the spray gun and suddenly kilo's start adding up. I added some wooden floor protection under the seats and also included a cargo bay so that all counts as well.

I'd love to fly a single seat version one day just to see how they compair.

  3. I was having a conversation with a mate yesterday that said he saw an announcement on the Camit engine page about the Aeropup and Camit engine now being the supported standard engine.

CAE 2200 now standard on Aeropup

Is local manufacturing up and running again? For parts and sales?

Just as a side note, and I guess it doesn't matter, but I thought that particular plane in the pic was a 912 powered one.

  4. Does it come with trailer? Currently registered? Whats the finalisation work required that you mentione

    -No trailer

    -yes it's registered

    - finalisation work listed in my message regarding painting cowl etc. It really seems to confuse people with that statement so I should just find time and do it.

    - I need to do the 100 hourly before I can fly it again and waiting on compass.

  5. My plane is still for sale. I must admit I haven't been trying very hard to sell it.

I still need to paint my cowling and replace some fuel lines. I also need to do the 100 hourly before it can fly again as it's now due. I'm waiting on a compass from Ian on this site and will do the service when that arrives. But have a think about this

I would like to do a few other mods long term but I have been struggling for time. Open to offers as I'm now flying my other plane and insuring both.

  6. That's partly true about the costs Yenn. I have built in both RAA and SAAA. I have just paid my insurance now for the VH plane and the insurance is an extra $700 a year for the same value plane due to having to have liability insurance for a VH plane. Liability insurance comes with your RAA side of things. So the RAA costs per year are significantly cheaper by my calculations.

  7. Yep new coil and have flown it twice since.

Flies nice and yes the performance is significantly higher ;)

Struggling somewhat with temps however on the new engine.

  8. Hi all,

Just had to shamelessly post this here.

I had a first flight in my second homebuilt and am still pretty much over the moon. The new Turbo Aerovee in the Sonex has some fantastic performance. I can't wait to really see what this plane can do.
