  1. Spoke to him at length last week and he is very switched on and he is an innovator, lets hope he keeps the spirit of grass roots aviation going
  2. Cons 1. Overpriced 2. No redundancy on all the hinges, all two hinged take a look at a Jabiru all three hinged 3. All flying tailplane with all forces concentrated about two light bearings, have a strike and its all over. 4. Atrocious parts supply both for accuracy and time of delivery Pros 1. Rotax engine 2. They do fly very well If Jabiru get this new engine right now they have finally realised they have to cast parts with harder alloys or alternatively more people start to fit rotaxes to the 230's the Tecnam will start to appear very overpriced.
  3. 447 The 447 has a points ignition which are unreliable, if it was a SCDI I would be less concerned. The 447 in mine is a good engine, just had a top overhaul.
  4. I own an older sapphire that has no flaps and no spoilers. It is a challenge to land and so far I am very wary of it. Does anyone have any details or drawings of how to fit spoilers to the aircraft. I really like the aircraft but the way it is at the moment its dangerous and asking for trouble. It has a points ignition 447 which will be replaced with a 503 if I keep the aircraft but its decision time as to whether I spend the money and make the aircraft right or sell it. Anyone got a set of flapped wings for sale or parts please let me know.
  5. I am giving serious consideration to building a full enclosure for a drifter to reduce drag and increase comfort. I can think of one example that was built in the late eighties but it never gained popularity. Any thoughts from the panel?
  6. Hi people just a short note to introduce myself, I own a Sapphire and am looking to buy myself another drifter. I am keen to start tinkering on my own project and am thinking about building a fully enclosed drifter regards the oracle
