C'mon Wayne, start a new thread with the list of the 10 commandments - I'd love to read them. Maybe we could even add a few extras!.. there are 10 commandments that will stand you in good stead throughout your flying life, no matter what you fly. Seeing as how you've trained in a Cub (who cares if it's a replica? There's no greater compliment than being copied) you may have already read them. But just incase you haven't, I'll offer the tenth one for your consideration -- 10. "THOU SHALT KNOW ALWAYS -- THE GOOD PILOT IS THE SAFE PILOT: It's better to be an old pilot than a bold pilot." ...Peter

Andy,
Good to hear from another Aerochuter ... Keep us informed about your efforts going to fixed wing, best of luck!

Brilliant Jeff! Well done!

Wondering on an Aerochute, can you turn the engine off and thermal or isn't the canopy as efficient as some of the PPG's?
I have had a few encounters with some strong uplifts (scared me at first, until I got used to them) but as Forex said, they really aren't designed for constant thermaling.... It would be one hell of a thermal to keep you up. The wing is just not designed to do that. Yet as inefficient as the wing is, like the C150, it is very easy to fly and very forgiving. ...If you do have a real interest to go Aerochuting, but can't find any locals, and you have a suitable property available, you might consider hosting a few for a weekend!

So ... are you suggesting we change the name to "Amusement Pilot"? :big_grin:If we are going to get pedantic then if we refer to Roget's Thesaurus and look up "sport" and "recreation" they both point to "Amusement", and all the definitions associated with that. IMO the words are frequently used interchangeably, so debating the "correct" name of the magazine based on the meaning of the words does not really serve a useful purpose. ...
You've got my vote Bryon!Would it be too cheeky to suggest that the name be changed to "Sport and Recreational Pilots" -
I'm happy for the moment to give the new set up a try. I mean, it could be a case of "If it aint broke, don't fix it!"
Just my 2c worth.

Welcome Jeff, You are the 2nd person I've heard of flying a Maule. Good luck on the path to your PPL.

Turnbase, Now all you have to do is find someone with an Aerochute to take you up!

Are they classified as mini touch-and-gos ???Unless its an airfield with landing fees that apply to every 'landing'...Chips - it will be good to hear about your work-in-progress!!

Thanks Wayne...
Amazing that this was in an aircraft's owners manual from 1946!
