Is #casa emulating the improper NSW ICAC actions??

In NSW, the ICAC [NSW’s corruption watchdog] investigations have directed at evidence gathering with the Cuneen case, which showed improper collection and clear falsification of video evidence in the collection of a phone from Cuneen. This progressed to the High Court, with serious doubts being raised about evidence gathering.

The latest revelations go even further and in today’s Australian, garner a different emphasis – the withholding of information by ICAC.

We must continue to ask these questions and defend our "right-to-fly".

Today, former staffer Greg Vaughn has attempted to put the record straight.

Lets look at what really is happening. There have been a lot of individuals putting it to the Minister, Mr. Truss, but with no success.

Here is an example of a letter sent to Mr. Truss, which had no reply as happened when he addressed the National Press Club.

I sent the same questions there, but not a single one was asked, when the Press Club asked for outside questions.

By the way, I am a paid up Journo anyway.

On 22nd September 2014, Mr. Truss said that he "...could not direct it [#casa] on safety regulations..."

Helicopter Industry calls it quits on assisting #casa cause more damage

AHIA Boss, Rob Rich and the helicopter industry have had enough according to today’s press release.

To: Helicopter Industry Colleagues,

It is time to take a stand against the unfair treatment of our industry by the Regulator and stop the distraction caused by the mismanaged regulatory reform process. To achieve this, we need to unite. We have been working hard to protect the industry’s existence but it seems CASA is not listening, heeding our suggestions or accepting our offers of assistance.

The vice-president Ray Cronin, supports this notion, saying:

“………..our industry members need to focus on their operations to ensure continued safe, efficient and financially viable futures in lieu of being dragged into impossible bureaucratic battles brought on by so much unwanted Government legislation…”

“We would be encouraged by a change in direction to see the DAS [Mark Skidmore] and CASA’s managers focusing on solutions and deal with what has already been raised rather than trying to flush out another range of issues.” Ray said.”

The aviation industry could not agree more Ray.

This attitude of #casa in refusing to fix the problems behind them such as Part 61 was well seen just last week in Cairns in another talk-fest.

Let’s bring in the US-FAR’s or the more palatable NZ-FAR’s now, reduce the redtape and allow industry to move on with it’s critical tasks. The current process reduces rather than enhances safety.

The Cairns Regulatory meeting occurred last week and demonstrated that #casa is not interested in meeting #ozindustry requirements, either of Part 61 or maintenance changes.

Just another pointer as to how #casa is not being a good corporate citizen!!

On reading the “bio”, there is no mention of forward plans, relationship to the aviation industry and no press release to say Mark is here to place a definitive change in place.

In fact, some $200M+ has been expended, with no real benefit to the industry. ASRR review – status??

, with some 37 prime matters [45 total matters identified by the Forsyth review] directed to be attended to] which are listed below.

It should be remembered that the

ASRR largely came about as a result of the PelAir Senate inquiry

and there has

been the subsequent death of the PelAir patient, Bernie Curall.

Few have had any attention, except in a superficial manner, as shown by the images below the prime matters.

The superficial nature is demonstrated by the “independent audit by Colmar Buton”, where no results have been released to the participants, much less the entire aviation industry.

Further, #casa rely on the “travelling band” of safety advisors. That the “safety advisors” who are paid external contractors, not #casa employees.

Even the #asrr review, despite the "...good-newsing..." of the #casa corporate plan, has not been met in even a small part.

Of course Keith, we commit the sin of aviation. I am told on good authority, that #casa consider that a pilot is just a criminal they have not caught.

Yes the iron-ring is alive and well.

I sought an answer from Skidmore on a matter that mccomick had dodged, referred to the ICC [who left under more than strange circumstances] who just refused to deal with a direct matter of a misbehaving staff member. Had the e-mail proof and all!!

In the reply to me, Skidmore used exactly the same words as mccomick had some 18 months earlier.

I will continue though.

Any service must be verifiable and timely in being given. Not the case with avdata.

Still trying to sort out alledged fees that are years old.

In the end, I wrote to avdata, refusing to be part of their system. Remeber, avdata only collects based on third party data, which often breaches privacy rules.

Organisations like this cannot be supported. I don't mind paying fees raised by the owner/ operator, if these are reasonable, but will not pay any third party organisation who charge around 30% to service the collection.
