  1. Well that would be great if it was clear what is required, just look at the thread on ozrunways, so why don't help us dumb asses to be safe ,what regs lay out exactly what we have to carry,,,now ,no opinions just the regs ,

    CAR 233, 234, 235, 239, 244, 252A, 262, would be a good starting point.

Whilst not explicitly stated that you have to carry them, it makes sense that you should be able to show evidence of doing the flight planning and have documentation of such on hand per the regs.

  2. I'm kinda wondering when it'll change from "smileys and just for education" to " here's a fine for non compliance " and " have a nice day you have thirty days to pay that"

If you were doing the right thing in the first place you wouldn't even be having that conversation.

Maybe this is what they are trying to instill in people - that they ARE around and ARE checking, so it would be advisable to get YOUR airmanship in order. You can't blame them for your lack of preparation.

  3. It's all starting to sound a bit like GA don't you think?

If the purpose is to improve safety compliance then it may not be a bad thing.

I suspect it is to keep an eye on RA-Aus compliance and checks too - to see if they are up to scratch in discharging their delegated duties. If too many planes and pilots are not compliant with the rules and regs, then it would be viewed as a more systemic issue better approached higher up than with the pilots concerned. It does sound like another round of more "on the ground" audits may be occurring.

  4. Could it be to follow up with the training organisation that you used to ensure they are actually covering the requirements with sufficient depth and importance in their training? That would be my first impression, if you were not actually penalised, and they implied that it was a form of audit. Audits are used to capture what is going wrong, not necessarily to punish who is doing it wrong. It is more of a "systems approach" to fixing problems.

  5. Funny you should say that...it was only about 180 secs ago I said to Corrine "I NEED A BREAK" 029_crazy.gif.9816c6ae32645165a9f09f734746de5f.gif 029_crazy.gif.ebbc52a455bc8465c993e605ac0f576a.gif 029_crazy.gif.9816c6ae32645165a9f09f734746de5f.gif ...we only just fixed the last of the known issues from the server move about 20mins ago so all should be starting to look good

So you have fixed the known knowns, and most of the unknown knowns. All that remains is to fix the remainder of the unknown knowns and all of the unknown unknowns.....

  6. I am currently talking to the server admin guy that will be performing this work, different one from before but this guy runs a data centre filled with sites that use the same software as us.

So, how is the old guy's Happy Valley stay going?086_gaah.gif.afc514336d60d84c9b8d73d18c3ca02d.gif

All <500post under "Miscellaneous" as a similar sub category structure to RA/GA types, as they are not that popular/frequented. If they become more used you could pop them out into their own primary category.

  9. I suggest you wait a few weeks then I'll show you something else to get excited about.I am sitting here right now redoing some prior art for the 3rd time so the stupid Chinese patent company obviously can see what is non-obvious, which is obviously obvious to me obviously, but not obviously obvious to them obviously - obviously.

So will we be able to copy the Chinese version and make it less reliable? (just kidding..)

Seriously, looking forward to seeing the end result.

  10. So why not just register "19". Can still have a MTOW of 600KG????This is yet "another" registration prefix for RAAus as if we havn't got enough now.

Could it indicate "European" indicating it complies with the Euro regulations (JAR-LSA), and may be undergoing homologation for Australian release?

  11. In legal jargon "shall" or past tense "should" is a legal imperative. It is equal to common usage of "must".

I can't get over the possibility that CASA were not interested in some propriety manufacturers screen sizes, more an equivalent size to the current format (A5). If you're in the minimum screen size, your in, if not, you're out.

  12. The wordings a little grey on this, an AOC needs a mandatory backup copy, however all pilots need ready access in event of failure, and smart phones are specified as not being an appropriate primary or secondary, so it seems unlikely that you cant use an iPhone as a back up even if you're an private or RA pilot?

I thought is was quite clear, actually.

The way I read it is the PRIMARY source of data must adhere to the minimum size to be legal (257mm/10.1"). A SECONDARY source on a smaller device is also acceptable in the event of the failure of the PRIMARY device and for use in calculations. There is no avenue for using a small device as the PRIMARY source of data.
