  1. Wheel socket spanner

David, Made mine up by forming a tube spanner out of appropriate sized 2mm tubing.

Also purchased a light weight scizzer jack from the wreckers [Daihatsu I think] and carry an el cheapo [500grms] $8 00 electric pump, until it fails ,its been marvellous.

  2. Nev, West coast started this , and it is important to remember that the thread refers to a hear paste recommended by rotax for their engines. Maybe it it is because they have water cooled heads that their specified heat paste can or is able to draw more heat away from the plugs than may be able to occur on an air cooled engine.

I dont think the original query by west coast related to a anti seize as has been the subject of many statements and that in itself is another topic.

  3. Dave, I would be most interested to know the outcome of your enquiries on you 500hr / 3yr Prop '' overhaul'' Mine is Neuform 2 blade but only 110 hrs yet. I cannot understand what could possibly be needed to be over hauled after 500hrs that would warrant having to be sent back to germany. Providing blade and hub integrity is ok , unless they want to Xray them? David

  4. Would just love to flop out the CT at narro, but for the 1st time in 7yrs I wont be there, checking out the Wanika Warbirds in en zed, instead Pity all the good things seem to clash........D

  5. Thks Paul, Mine took in the vicinity of 8hrs but ithink I could reduce that to about 4hrs now I have the experience. I took it out not so much as to replace the filter but to address the issue of the hot air flap bushes coming adrift from the fibreglass housing resulting in continuous hot air ingestion. the reason for the question was that I thought I may have been missing the obvious, but no it seems. i needed to remove most of the fuel hoses ,the little "black boxes' to provide clearance, but that faded into to insignificance compared to getting the flexible air intake ducts and actuation cable back into place. I can see it would be a piece of cake with the engine out and at one stage contemplated that. Not sure about the fly in at this stage. David

  6. Thanks, Ian, I understand the things you are saying, my comments are based on the fact that the gearbox's part number was originally stamped on the box as a slipper clutch model, the number had been stamped xxxxxxx out and a new non slipper clutch part number manually stamped thereupon. This suggested to me that that a non slipper clutch model was at the time more of an exception to production than the rule at the factory. nevertheless I understand where you are coming from. 7. Sent my gear box off Monday, got it back today. Downside is that it wasnt fitted with a slipper clutch, which is standard on all 100 hp now, $1300 later I have a "standard" engine. I suppose that does explain the extreme vibration at start up.

As it turns out, the the factory had removed the slipper clutch at the buyers request.

  8. You will need to contact a one Greg Ellsworth at BRS and quote your chute Serial nos etc, they will send parts, details on 'How To' are on service Bulletin on RAA website.

Not too hard to complete, [especially for your profession] just dont drop the little screws [ crowns].

Have just taken off gearbox in accordance with Rotax Service Bulletin, only to find that it wasnt fitted with a slipper clutch AAAAGGGGHHH, another $1300.

Then the carby heat box bushes had broken out of the housing causing "hot air ingestion all the time, so thats out getting fixed too. Now I just have to get it mobile and fly over to the agent to get the auto pilot fixed........D

  9. Gearbox removal and replacement

Today I spent 5 hrs trying to obtain a 41mm long series socket to remove the crankshaft nut, finally got one.....$60 ! .If I cannot borrow a torque wrench in the the right range another $200 plus the loctite plus the oil filter and oil change.

Then the freight both ways, ........
