The tyres fitted on the "Tundra" wheels are Air Track 6.00 x 6 .

Next time I have the wheel fairings off, I will measure the rims. Sorry for the scant information.

Ian, the next ten days will seem like a lifetime......I have been there!...however having seen your options list, I am sure the wait will have been well worth while...... I am :yuk: with envy already......might just have to order the new 2007 CTsw with retractable gear & gas turbine....just kidding!! ;)

Flight Design have added a new switch adjacent to the Flap selector. (see photo). According to reports on the U.S. website, there had been some problems with the flap motor tripping due to pilots selecting a setting (say 30) then selecting a lower setting (say 15) while the flaps were still running to 30 degrees.

Here is an explanation from Tom Peghiny (a U.S. Flight Design dealer).

"The little black rectangle should have been placarded by the

factory (and it will) but it is a double circuit breaker for the

flaps, not a reset button. It has a 1 AMP breaker for the flap board and a 10 AMP breaker for the motor all in one unit. The way to reset the flaps is to pull the left main breaker and reset it. Also read up on the manual override option on the flap switch in the AOI.

Please advise the forum. TP"

Thanks for the information re: lifejackets....will check it out with the suppliers over here. Annual certification eh! ....sounds expensive, but then would probably seem pretty cheap if it came to the crunch and you had to use them for real.

Paul....thanks for the photos..that NSW coast south of Sydney sure is picturesque. You have inspired us to bring the the CT across one day and have a closer look as I only ever got to see it from 35000 ft enroute SYD - HBA.

On another matter, I saw that you had an inflateable lifejacket on your belt......I need to buy a couple to fly to Rottnest Island and Thevenard Island early in 2007. Any ideas where the best place is to buy them and do they have a 'shelf life'?

Paul....all the Australian delivered CT's are now fitted with the heavy duty landing gear struts, regardless of the wheel size.

Hi Paul,

Yes if I speak to the owners before they take delivery, I will let them know about the forums.

With regard to the wheel pants/fairings, the CT with the Neuform 3 blade prop. is fitted with the larger (Tundra) wheels, hence the larger fairings.

Looking at the aircraft at the end of the video, It would appear to me that the tow cable was wrapped around the fuselage which may have impeded or damaged the flight controls....hence the 'chute deployment.

This is actual footage taken from inside an aircraft after striking a tow line and subsequent deployment of the ballistic parachute. (somewhere in Europe I believe)

Arthur....thanks for the link to Aircraft Spruce. That is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for, however I am hoping to be able to source it within Australia. I have been told that there is a similar plastic tape used by theautomotive industry, sowill check that out before ordering from the USA.

Peter......not sure how the tape comes.....ie with a removable backing or just in a roll like duct tape. If it is the former, then a 5 or 10 way split would be possible, howeveras I said above, will try and track down a similar product in Australia and will let you know.

Due tostone damage to the leading edge of the stabilator on my CTsw, I have had approval from the Flight Design factory to install some form of plastic tape to the leading edge.

They specify a plastic with thickness of 0.25 - 0.30 mm and extending back 50 - 100mm from the leading edge. (under and over)

Does anybody knowwhere I can sourceplastic tape like this (preferably self adhesive) which would stand up to exposure to the sun and elements?

Thanks Mario....that explains it all. I guess you are right about the horizontal alignment however those3 1/8 instruments are much easier to read than the 2 1/4 although with the D100, I never look at them much anyway.........nice to haveas a backup though.

Have you had a chance to do very much flying as yet?

Panel looks greatMario.......can you confirm that the ASI & altimeter are 3 1/8 inch diameter? (is the ASI manufactured by UMA?). I was told that FD could not fit the D100 as well as the 3 1/8 inch units into the panel so have the 2 1/4 inch dials. (see below)

Can you tell me what the instrument is above the 'slip/skid ball' to the left of the Dynon .....is that an pitch inclinometer??( Also...what make is the Vertical Speed Indicator?) Is that a TCAS above the Flydat?........sorry for so many questions, but am curious.

Hi Paul,

The cover was US$415.00 + 8.5% sales tax. As the exchange rate these days is a 'moveable feast', it's probably better to calculate it around the time you intend ordering. Weight is about 5.5 kgs. (there are other variations of the cover....with less or more covered....this was the configuration that suited us best).

There is alithium back up battery in the Dynon EFIS D100 which holds it's charge by drawing down on the ships battery.

The12V car battery is connected to the aircraft battery viathe jumper leads and external power connections so as to ensure that the ships battery is not unduly depleted.

For anyone interested in covers, my CT Cover arrived today from Sunnyvale CA. (USA) and I have attached some photos.

It was extremely well made by Bruce's Custom Covers.....the fabric is a silver laminate, being a medium weight nylon and treated for UV resistance and anti-static build up. The inner lining is brushed nylon Tricot knit which is very soft and will protect the plexiglass windshield and acrylic finishes.

The outer material is water proof, yet breathable to allow moisture to escape from between the cover and windshield surface.

After I made that last post, I also did a search and ended up finding one for the Nokia 5110in the USA through TangShop.com

It's exactly what Iwanted and was US$2.95 + shipping $US5.99 (USPS International airmail)...all up about $12.50 AUD so it's on the way to me now.

Ross....that is exactly what I have been looking for as I recently bought 2 Telex Stratus 50 digital headsets which comeswith a cell phone/MP3 adaptor however my Nokia 5110 (brick) was not compatable (connector wise).

I will be very interested to hear how it goes when you receive the adaptor andif it is asuccess, I will try and get one myself.

Hi Paul......I expect thegallon will last a long time because as I mentioned previously "a little goes a long way".Oncethe cloth you are using to apply the wax getssaturated, you only then need to occasionally spray a little on the area you are working. The product also contains a mild cleaning agent which very much makes it an 'all in one' operation.

I just usedan open weave, soft cloth (an old singlet will do) to apply the wax and then buffed it with another soft, dry cloth.

I recently purchased a U.S. gallon of Composiclean spray on wax from the Rec.Fly. Shop and yesterday polished the CT with it. The results were terrific.....a little goes a long way and the bugs come off easily and after minimal buffing, leaves a glossy finish.(and No...Ian did not pay me to write this)

I have only recently changed over to Evans NPG+ and find that it is a huge improvement on the previous 50:50 mix.

I would like to continue using NPG+ and I consider that EASA may have over-reacted as there is not much that isn't flammable in an ultra-light aircraft.

Rotax are looking into it as are Evans and we will have to wait and see what the outcome is.
