The ppc's only does about 65 kmh,so turns on a dime, and the Aerochute has the best safety history I can find. All flying is dangerous to some degree, it's the calculated risks that one must make personally, for me anything less than a full control aircraft is out of the question, too many variables IE Wx. For others it's the simplicity of such flying machines & cost. I value my life more, it's as simple as that:-)What is it about this form of flying that makes this type so misunderstood?

I had a moment of second thoughts this morning, but glad for the wa coast flight today if a bit smoky, there is no reason not to have a great relaxing flight , these things tend to make me have a second look at what I'm doing ,and it is worth it

Not slow at all. Had to walk through this with RAAus Tech at the start of the process as what is the aircraft is very important when you come to registration and display of markings.Question - what is the aircraft for RAAus - the trike unit or the wing?
Answer - the trike is the aircraft that requires registration not the wing
Outcome - flying 5 wings on the 1 trike only requires 1 aircraft registration. Note in logbook as to which wing is flown is all that is required
On changing engines - its only a note required in the aircraft logbook and I run three engine log books so I am clear
On W&B - its a bitch but weightshift aircraft have no application to the concept of W&B in the sense that 3axis aircraft have them ... they do not apply balance calcs as the balance limits for safe flight are not fixed by empty weight or even load weight of the trike but by hang point location ... and on 2 of my wings even that is variable in flight as I have an electric slider on the hang bracket.
Overall the RAAus Tech Manual and Tech Office personnel are not well acquainted with weightshift aircraft or design. I have been walking RAAus Tech through this for coming up 2 years and basically I am at the point of just taking my registered aircraft off and flying it with annual paperwork and fees to RAAus because they just do not get it.
... and if you think this is complex how do you think RAAus can deal with the Aircreation BioniX wing on their trike? It has in flight variable geometry with not only variable sweep but also variable camber and trim ... my wings are fairly 'normal' compared to that
Powered parachutes dont fit also,my random audit was not mandatory and mentioned it was about increasing max weight above 600kg...???

As sad as this is ,once flying low and slow as many have and I do in ppc..low and fast ,not checking out area first is a gamble that will Not end well, better than 100 other ways to end your life,RIP Carl ,true flying to the last 10 seconds,i would rather fly and die than never fly

So did it cost him more without having the rego/certificate ?Wasn't the Hume Weir incident handed over to police because aircraft was unregistered and pilot had no certificate? -
Lucky for him he's still getting older.
-
I'd be happy with a one seat 103 ppc ,cheep and safe,no more rego yes please
