I started this thread some 8 years or so ago and I have still not flown to Orchid Beach, Fraser Island QLD yet.

But, I'm now thinking of doing so in the near future. Better late than never hey?!

So:

a. Has anyone used the Orchid Beach airstrip of late?

b. Who do I contact wrt:

1. RWY conditions/details.

2. Permissions

3. Landing fees

4. Other useful info?????

Thanks for the welcomes guys.. Any advice on a training school with some good planes around SE QLD? I live in the Redlands and am happy to travel 1 hour - 1.5 hours or so. Looking to do the cert and Nav endorsements.

Hi Sean, Bradfield is my schools official training strip , I Instruct there most Saturdays.Grass strip , well keep, 800m and very wide. Rwy 18/36 CTAF multi-com 126.7 ,Elev 300 ft

No PPR , Bob Morgan (Owner) is happy to welcome visitors.

Hi all,I have been having lessons at Lilydale and have got to the stage of completing my first solo in a Jabiru J160. There is a reasonable chance that I will be moving from Melbourne to Brisbane for work early next year and was wondering what flying schools there are for Rec certificate training.

 

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
