  1. Might see you in Peterborough as well. My co-pilot wants to see the 12 apostles etc and i am looking at other options and places during the first week of January. What is the accomodation like there or nearby-hang on, we dont have a car so you know the deal, has to be not too far away.

  2. We have had the glass coated Sensenich prop on for about 50 hours and just did 22 hours to Lake Eyre etc and the prop was great. Minimal chips on all the dirt compared to our old timber one. Is there a difference ? I really can not notice any better take off and the cruise is exactly the same damn it.

  3. Well we have a window company and did send an apprentice 500 mts down the road to an engineering firm run by a mate to ask for a long weight ( window weight--legitimate ask ). Well about an hour later back he came on his bike apologizing for taking so long but they weren't very helpfull he said.

The funny part was he had this one metre lenght of solid stainless steel rod about 50 mm diameter which weighed heaps and was a struggle on his bike--Hell, bloody good weight, what do I do now.

Well I looked at this rod which had a 10 mm hole tapped in one end and said " take this back and tell the idiot that it is the wrong thread"

He woke up to it about another hour later after sitting in the engineering factory again.

  4. Great right up Jack, well done. You have me fired up now.

We have 2 maybe 3 Jabs leaving Wangaratta on the 8th for Flinders Ranges, Lake Eyre and maybe Coober Pedy and other stops for 4 days.

    Others welcome

  5. Gidday Ed and Black Rod,

You can only use the flash card that is assigned to the Avmap, using another or back up will not work.

Ed, I had a mate pull mine out in about 30 seconds but he has the knack. We have dropped the dash forward a bit to get it out. Not that hard but a bloody nuisance and bad design- why didn't they have an extension cable like the EFIS and EMS have for updates.

  6. Gidday Relfy,

Just what I wanted to hear, thats great- you have me sold. I seem to have a bit of vibration from the Jab prop so the Sensenich I hope will solve a few issues.

Have it increased your criuse speed? as well as climb

    Time to order one.

  7. We had trouble seeing the Marree Man and found about 5000 a better height. A far better site is the Painted Hills which are on the same track from Marree, west through the Marree man and then--I have the co-ords if needed. But what a fabulous set of hills with unbelievable colors. Then turn back north east for William creek and fuel.

  8. You are right Jet, it has to be the timber prop and the glass coated ones sound great.

Andy, I have spoken to Geoff and his is the Ground adjustable so no good for me.

So at this satge there seems to be no-one with the glass coated timber prop at the moment to reference with but I am sure some one will stick their hand up before long.

    I will keep sniffing around.

  9. Gidday All,

Do any of you Jab owners know much about the new Sensenic prop with the glass coating they are putting on some Jabs now. I think we will be soon be in the market for a new prop and was hoping to get some feed back.

  10. It is frustrating doing a goto and guess what-- not in the data base. But I am now pretty quick at putting the details in as a user waypoint on the fly.

I will keep watching this space. One of my problems is access to the rear of the Avmap in the jab--It is a XXXXX to get out and update hence I am not keen to do many updates.

  11. Gidday All,

Yes it is sad that the Wangaratta Aero Club will not be training anymore under that name but flying training, both Ga and Raa will recommence as soon as CASA gives approval for another local flying training establishment to operate a satellite school here. This should be only a few more weeks.

The Wang Aero club like most clubs, has since the fifty's built up a great club with quality training that has seen many, many pilots trained each year through to CPL that have gone on to fulfill their flying dream. The funds and infrastructure that the club has now is due to the tireless efforts of past instructors and CFI's that gave their time at a very low or zero cost to the club.

Unfortunately times have changed and the CASA requirements of CFI's and Chief Pilots means a huge cost to the club that we are unable to sustain. As a committee, we have taken the decision with unanimous support from all the members to stop the losses now to preserve the funds built up over half a century.

As a club we will still have aircraft for hire to club members and training will still be happening so effectively there will be no big change.

For any more details please feel free to call me anytime.

  12. Would have been a great trip but I dont think I could have held my breath for that long.

We purchased VH-FTK and as you, we are very happy with it.

Hope to catch up if I get over there,
