  1. The inspection hatch is underneath and thinking of doing a electrical panel in there on the wall, really easy to access and battery box is there.

So im thinking of putting the ibox in the back since i plan to have:

Behind of seat: V6 remote Radio(close to antenna), 2x AutoPilots, Garr remote Transponder(close to antenna), statics/AOA/Pitot, OAT sensor, flapsensor, powerflarm, VP-X, sp6/7 that all connect to the ibox

Forward: just pulling the can2 wire for the rdac and a LAN rg174 sma cable to the dash for the panels.

would this be a viable thing to do?

can i extended the iBox LAN cable to ~9feet/2m? without issues?

Since i have an all ALU airframe can i put the sp-6/7 in the rear fuselage? just as dynon suggests for its product within the red square?

Installation Location - Compass: The ADAHRS Modules include a Magnetometer (Remote Compass). This means that it needs to be located in magnetically benign location, away from high current wires and moving aircraft components that contain a ferrous material.Installation Location - ADAHRS: An ADAHRS installation location should be a rigid surface within 12 feet longitudinally and 6 feet laterally of the aircraft's center-of-gravity. Figure 1 illustrates this.

    SkyView_ADAHRS_Location.jpg.4437f11afd3f559075cc8b249e4e9941.jpg

Is it possible to install the adahrs sp6/7 upside down?

  2. Ain't it to close to wing?. You remember this from dynon?

The Dynon Avionics AOA/Pitot probe will work correctly only when mounted in a location where the airflow over the probe is relatively undisturbed by the aircraft. In general, we recommend you mount it at least 6 inches below the wing and with the tip of the probe between 2 and 12 inches behind the leading edge of the wing. Typically, pitot probes are mounted about mid-wing span wise to minimize the effects of both the propeller and the wing tips.

  3. Weighed it up tonight.Altimeter 585g, ASI 285g, Rate Climb 348g, Tacho 237g, Slip Ball 27g, 2x Temperature Gauge 247g, Oil Temp 128g, Fuel pressure Gauge 143g, Volt Meter 53g, Oil Pressure Gauge 200g, Compass 286g, TOTAL 2.539 Kg.

For anyone that cares about the extras

22000uF Capacitor 120g, Manifold Pressure Gauge 145g, Wing tip strobe kit 400g, Led Trim Indicator 22g, Airmaster Prop Controller 245g, Gascolator 300g ICP wiring Harness 1650g.

That substandard ignition switch only weighs 87g, could be better if it weighed 187g!

Seems about the same then, thanks...

how mutch did u pay for the airmaster?

  4. Ok so ive ordered my Flight to Capetown to go and pick up my avionics from the MGL factory, a total of 20 hours trip one way, staying 4 days then back home 20 hours again.

A friend of mine who was there for work a couple of times told me that outside his hotel on Mondays it was dragging day in the lake for dead bodies, and never go alone when dark, take a cab to the hotel, don't rent a car cause they throw corpses in front to make you stop and rob you, just keep driving to nearest police station.

I'm really longing for this trip 059_whistling.gif.a3aa33bf4e30705b1ad8038eaab5a8f6.gif

So right now i'm at a standstill, guess this happens to people sometimes, but i'm really itching to build...

  5. Hello from Canada; The Savannah VGW (the North American model name for the VG XL) has been added to the Canadian listing of aircraft eligible to be registered as Advanced Ultra Light Aeroplanes - in either Land or Seaplane configuration - in Canada. The Savannah S is sure to follow shortly.

Congratulations to Valter della Nebbia of ICP Aviation North America - perhaps we'll begin to see these aircraft proliferate here as they have in Australia and South Africa.

Hello, welcome to the forum, how you'll enjoy our company, 080_plane.gif.36548049f8f1bc4c332462aa4f981ffb.gif

  6. I am in the process of unpacking a set at the moment( well I started five weeks ago and haven't finished yet) so it will not be hard to weigh them when I get them all unwrapped.

    Please do check.

So i got my connector from my ray allen handle installed, really neat.

And i tried installing the wooden frame for the chute, but icp sent sunken screws to fasten it with and i cant flush the holes this late in the build, thus making the screws stick up awkward so i have to get ordinary flat screws.

  7. if you are still having weight problems, I have lost a couple of kilos, I could find a home for those map pockets that you will have to take out to get down to weight! how much weight did you save with the glass panel?

    Haha, forget it =)

Dont know yet but it seems reasonable if you look down below, i have those 3,57 kg + a 10,4" screen(~1,2kg). ~5kg.

two 1,3KG autpilots but they go in after the weighin.

I always wonder if deleting steam gauges and going to a glass panel saves a significant amount of weight?

    From MGL homepage.

    V6 radio 230g

    Transponder Garrecht (VT-01UltraCompact) 0,57kg

    3,75kg, is that less?

  8. No paint and no carpet for you then!

With D-motor and lithium battery i should make it.

I've been talking to Alain on d-motor this past week, i like him and he responds the same day or morning after, seems really serious, i will decide after this summer.

And to counter the loss of power when starting why not mount two rc jet engines?

Can get 23-51lbs/104-220Nm thrust per engine. one on each side mounted on wheel spring, weighs 1-2kg each.taz.gif.c750d78125a77f219b0619b1f23e3e90.gif

    • Haha 1
  9. You can't keep a Savannah down, is it only being held back by European regulations? Or are the factory mucking you about with your firewall forward kit for the new engine?

It's the British fault, they thought 1000(450kg) pounds was perfect. Ha.

  10. where did you see the S 2?

I am interested in what a Savannah S "2" is different from a regular Savannah S.

Its new generation high-tec Savannah, new rudder, different engine, all glass panel with aoa and autopilot , 075_amazon.gif.0882093f126abdba732f442cccc04585.gif, a fucked up plane that will never fly.

  11. You easily come to your weight if you are the only one in the plane otherwise a second person you wont have much fuel or they are a midget

Thing is to have the right weight when my supervisor comes and weighs it and checks my CG, then it doesn't matter afterwards, no one has ever been rechecked in Sweden..

  12. Mine weighed empty 305.5kg with Tundra tyres, long range tanks, full carpet, Xcom radio, GME UHF and supplied instruments.

I wonder how the germans do? they are as strict as heck and they manage to put a Sav s within the weight limits.

    Such a gamble...

  13. There are still many people who say they only need 80Hp anyway, if the other engine is lighter and you can get your weight and balance right, it should be just as good as 100Hp too.

    If all conditins are met

    dmotor ~58-60kg does 93.6 hp 5 min / 88.8 hp continuous

    rotax ~65-68kg does 100hp 5 min / 95hp continuous

icp m09 70kg without fluids? (81kg with fluids), not even flying, 115hp max / 100 cont, seems to be a LSA engine more than a MicroL engine.

i'm puzzled, i cant continue to build without an engine mount gagged.gif.60d96579bce4672c685d482e13fb64dd.gif, how big is the chance that i will be standing with a too light airplane? less than 297,5kg? just my lithium battery will save me 5kg id guess, im only using two iefis so instruments are around 5kg total.

should i aim for a lower weight dmotor and if possible later use a constant speed prop to compensate for lost takeoff performance?

    sorry for all these questions....

  14. Kyle has been banging my head into the wall saying my plane will weigh to mutch and then he showed me the D-motor ~94HP engine http://www.d-motor.eu/nl/lf26-36.htm

im not to familiar with horsepower but how would an engine like this perform on my Sav S? i have a chute and long dist tanks, and the d-motor could actually get me under my weight limit, pretty shure, it says ~58kg al included while the icp m09 is about 81KG, thats a whoping 20kg!

i dont think i can use the m09 without cheating.

i also got the the users manual from the manufacturer if anyone want to read, love the part in the end, where am i gonna fly this then?

    9. WARNING ! This is a non-certified aircraft engine, the possibility of engine failure exists at all times. Do not operate this engine over densely populated areas. Do not operate this engine over terrain where a safe, power off landing cannot be performed.

i got a REAL good offer on the engine, this 6hp diff from an 100hp rotax, how would it work?

  15. So why not, im on sick leave and then i can build some aeroplane 059_whistling.gif.a3aa33bf4e30705b1ad8038eaab5a8f6.gif

I fixed the extended rudder part.

I had to open side of the fin and remove the old strobe wire and then move it to the rudder by opening 1/3 of it and using grommets to pull it up to the new position.

  16. I dont know how you australians do it but here when we do modifications, like adding a extended rudder we must send an application to EAA to get it approved.

So now i have allot of documentation on the new rudder, even quite a few drawings on all new changes for the taildragger.

    20140303_223058.jpg.442a81d4b2ca4a10fdc04ebbb53c21d9.jpg

While at it i also asked ICP where my extra bag of stainless steel rivets was supposed to go, so i got this PDF (German modification documents) file and i also sent it to kyle, they are ment to sit in the cabin pipe frame against the lugage comp, somehow Kyle feels the urge to continue to read the document and finds out why i got 2x 2.6m parachute bridles from ICP, this is important stuff and icp dont mention it, i have to stumble over it?

So the ropes goes from the rear wing mount and all the way down to the under carriage for the wheel spring and up again making a loop.

    20140303_214113.jpg.61a59355c5100485dbffe14f4364a4b2.jpg

If anyone wants the German mod PDF file, get in touch with me or Kyle.

Farings fitment? how do they fit? i dont know, plate stick underneath faring, if it supposed to be like that then i have to grind on the plastic to get it right on. WHY!!

    20140301_172953.jpg.e815bf3d5caa1d3142e2390766321340.jpg

So i fixed the Ray allen handles, it was a long time since i did some soldering.

Ohh and icp succesfully sent a new panel, and they had bent the bottom the wrong way, putting it the otherway around so the screw holes match with cabin makes it angle outwards, already got a new one coming again.
