Thanks Jay. I've seen (and photographed) most of those, so I didn't miss much.

Apparently there was an open day at Essendon today. I only heard it mentioned briefly on the radio last night and was not in a position to attend. Did anyone else get along - a report would be nice.

That makes two of us at least. What sticks in my memory is the speed of th u/c cycling - down one sec, gone the next.I saw one fly once. I think that makes me fairly rare. It all happens quickly. Nev -
I know it's off topic, but I did post it in the Laughter forum. Surprisingly, it was sent to me be a lady (Facebook) friend, ex work colleague, who is over 65.

Inspired by Robbo's post in the R.I.P Howard Hughes thread, I saw this today on Facebook and as there are a lot of country folk here, I thought you might like it.

Nev, was that a pun or a chastisement?

I read that, but what about 1© and 1(d). If I take off from Moorabbin and fly around Wilson's Promontory, Latrobe Valley and back to Moorabbin, (navex 1 when I was training), how is carrying a maintenance release or medical certificate in the aircraft going to make things any safer? It's just to satisfy Big Brother.

Pardon me chipping in here guys, with what may be a dumb question reflecting the years since I last flew, or the comment often made by my missus that I have alzheimer' s/senility, but what is the point of carrying these documents if the aircraft ends up like the one which is the subject of this thread, and they are destroyed in the fire? How is that going to assist the investigation? Or is it just another typical bureaucratic overkill requiring duplicate copies of everything - one copy on the aircraft and one at point of departure?

I have also been informed that each denomination will have a different variety of wattle on it. Heard the one on the fiver referred to as a dunny brush.

I thought that, unlike other countries, our notes were different sizes so they could be distinguished by blind people.

Don't forget - in some European countries, 150NM is halfway across the country.

Hi LadyHawke,
Welcome to RF. There may be one or two, it's an international forum, but as it's based in Australia, membership is predominantly Australian. Do not let that distract you - there are members from every continent, so you are more than welcome. You may have to wait a while for a fellow New Yorker to log in.

Last night saw the final episode of Plane Resurrection, featuring the Percival Q6. To be honest, I had not heard of the Q6, and knew very little about Percival Aircraft, although I had heard of the Percival Gull, and Percival Proctor. I thought it was one of many UK aircraft manufacturers, and knew nothing of its founder, Edgar Percival. My bad. For the younger members who may not know, the founder of the company was actually born in Albury, and went to Forte St School in Sydney. He left school at 15. The rest of his story can be read on Wikipedia. Although wartime records are unclear, it is believed the aircraft the subject of the resurrection was used to fly General de Gaulle, later French President, to England ahead of the German advance.
