  1. No doubt someone in Cairns will be opening yours about now. :) Havn't even checked up on mine, I will get it one day. Still going to work tommorrow, doubt if anybodies going to question me at 630 in the morning. Wonder how a loss of income claim would go because I havn't recieved the bullshit paperwork? Should be around 8K a day.
  2. I have read elsewhere if you've recieved notification of an application, that's OK. There has been a number quoted somewhere they can ring to check on the checks. How stupid is it if you have an RAA licence then an ASIC is not required? You can still access a so called "secure airfield". I'm not going crook they don't need one, just we don't either. How has GA a voice with the Federal Government? it doesn't apart from AOPA which the powers that be ignore anyway.
  3. No picture Dusterx, is it a 2 seat thrush? the 1820 had a bad name in this country, I think it's problems were abuse and neglect mainly. I've put a couple of piccies on the album, we used to use Beaver a bit in this country for AG work, only one left doing it now. For topdressing we use a Fletcher, that's the nose of a Fletcher you can see on the misty shot.
  4. Depends why your building time? if your going for something like Airlines your wasting money with the Gazelles.
  5. Lokks pretty spectacular, it's a lot easier than it looks. Wouldn't it be great to have a benefactor like the bloke that owns the team, here's some Harvards go have some fun. :D
  6. Yool have to find a better paying job if your going to spend 30 to 40k to go flying.
  7. Don't they use 340's on the Atlantic route?
  8. 3's a Tobago and if the Cessna is a converted 182 the spec's would still read 182.
  9. It's not going to make a lot of difference, you are going to have to spend a heap. What's a couple of hundred dollars when you have to spend 5 or 6 thousand anyway? Price should not be the only requirement with training, the quaility of training should be first on the list. A $4000 private licence is no good to you if you can't fly properly, 150 hours in a Gazelle is worth didly squat if your trying for Airlines. Bad training will limit your access to a career, should you choose to go that way.
  10. When I started flying (just a couple of years ago) a 150 was $32 an hour.
  11. So no changes then? full steam ahead with more red tape/overregulation/discouraging newcomers/charge what they like/stuff you attitude and onward. They used to call it SNAFU.
  12. Giday Reflex, 182's are great ole rockets. What do you fly for work?
  13. That's unless your an RAA pilot then no requirement to have one.
  14. Nope.......................well there was that time I started spraying a cotton field and some idiot didn't read the spray sheet and was still in the field.
  15. Ultralight, did you travel up the coast to Old Bar on the weekend? I saw a Jab there.
  16. Get an endorsment, there's a bit to it. It's great fun, a bit harder with different Aircraft types. It will help your general flying, but only have a go if your comfortable with your Aircraft. I would suggest having a bit of general flying expirence before you get a formation endorsment.
  17. Anybody been to Philip Island? How far is the strip from the track? The bikes are on there in another month or so and it would be a good trip.
  18. Done it now, it's a long slippery slope with aviation poverty at the other end. The only way to go :D
  19. Wassit? Looks like a Decathlon. That's the Aircraft not the Olympic event. :D
  20. Temora It's a great weekend, we've been about a dozen times now. You have to book 6 months in advance tp get in Temora, we have stayed in Cootamundra, and Wagga, it's only half an hour's flying. Works still going fairly strongly at the moment, if it quietens down we might get there for the August show. We still havn't seen the Skymaster fly yet.
  21. Related Got it's bigger brother, a PA22-20. All the old Shortwings are great machines.
