  1. OK I found it, under cloud on Google earth. I seem to remember a decent strip not too far from there. I was considering using it to get to Helensburgh but ended up at Woolongong instead.
  2. Hey, hows the Bantam, a mate has one they are awsome to fly, I am seriously thinking about buying one when the Lightwing sells. The Lightwing is an excellent all rounder but not fast enough for me for tyhe amount of cross country that I do and the jab lands too fast for the local stuff into mates paddocks that I also like to do.....answer?....have a Jab and a Bantam. Unfortunately the Lightwing has to go, I cant justify owning three aircraft even to myself. Where is Tarhmoor???
  3. Hey newlife, better late than never. Enjoy your training, the Gazelle is a sweet aircraft to learn in. I have not been to Katoomba but I have a few mates in Sydney so I guess I will be up that way again at some stage.

    Jabiru engines

Iany I have a heap of hours behind Rotax and was complacent and happy till I was faced with the prospect of purchasing a Jab powered machine. My thought process went something like this. There SEEMS to have been lots of jab failures but then there are thousands of them in the air. CASA wold not have certified them if they were not OK. Sure they have their fair share of problems but properly maintained and operated there should be no problems....and so far so good....I boought the aircraft and it is operating flawlessly. Coop Why not run the engine "on the firewall all day" If burning the fuel doesnt worry you and the temps are OK, why not run it at the firewall. What stresses could possibly be produced that could be a problem. My engine won't stay cool for extended periods but I have a mate who, after a proper warm up, pushes the throttle to the fire wall and leaves it there till he reaches cruising altitude 10 - 15 or more minutes later. At first I thought this was hard on the engine but it isn't, why would it be, what is full throttle going to do to the engine.....nothing that I can think of. Any thoughts, I would love to know if I've missed anything.
  5. I recently modified all of the control surfaces on my Jab. It flies like a ripper now. I have good authority in all axises (axii??) it is still a little **** to land but its a whole lot of fun.
  6. Gday Here are a couple of videos that I took on a flight to South West Tas with a mate (Rod) last weekend. [ame] [/ame]The last one is Tasmanian southwest wilderness from the air. Surrounded by 4,000 - 5,000 feet high mountains as far as you can see in all directions, viewed from 7,500 feet.......Beautiful, thats why I fly
  7. Gday from Tassie I was enjoying interacting with other aviation enthusiasts on another well known Australian recreational aviation website but it seems that I ran foul of the owner and got my self banned for three days. I don't know why, I didn't do or say anything outrageous or antisocial but I don't want to go back there again. Bahhhh, doesn't matter. I am an aviation addict, I have a fairly unique view of the world, (at least my view appears to be different from the neuro-typical view), I own two dogs, a Lightwing and a 6 cylinder tailwheel Jabiru. I like to fly and I get about a bit. I like to challenge my self in many things, I like challenging cross country flights like flying my Lightwing from Tas up the coast to Cook Town and back via the outback. I like to challenge conventional thinking on many topics, particularly when conventional thinking is stupid. I have trouble tolerating stupidity and closed minds (maybe that's why I was banned from the other site?). I am looking forward to discussing anything aviation and getting to know the members here.
