  1. Before we got off track ....thanks all for the info guys, especially DavidH10, may take awhile to digest all that but it was great - thanks. And nice to hear Glenn hasn't gone for the Aviation Antartica model.

This guys been coming into MEL, still in the Atlas Jet livery TC-ETK, it has a real ratty paint patchy tail, but under the Strategic call sign.

Virgin - VH-YID - named Rainbow Beach. & YYK named Long Beach.

  3. New JQ A320 VH-VGA 'hiding' outside the JH hanger on the 8th Dec. The new colour scheme -all black, name on the fuselage gave it away.

Virgin seems confused with naming their planes, I noticed VH-VUG has been changed to the VA colours, but has kept it's old name, Jasmine Tasman.

  4. Call sign Snow Bird 1.

Which Bizjet ? N618WF, red stripe with little USA flag on tail - '99 BD-700, the Wells Fargo bank owns the papers to it, so don't know who's using it.

    N933ML, a '06 BD-600 again owned by Wells Fargo.

or N511TL, a '77 Gulf 2B , it has been linked to the rapper Lil Wayne in the past and he was in town for the Emnem concert.

  5. Ben, I work airside at YMML, so for me it's seeing them in person on days I'm working. listing, um I just list the ones that come into YMML, i take note of whats around from the Family at TAA, but until I see it, I don't stick it on my list, and I google the Bizjets to see who might own them.

  6. For me I like to keep a list of aircraft that I see come into YMML, so when I see one that is not on my list :D, and then I check the rego and see if its the next in line, like the Garuda that comes in daily, I've only been up to GPK for a awhile. or if its a different type of aircraft like the Malaysian Cargo, they have a couple of 747's that come in and they also use 747's from Southern Air, but a A330, hmmm, it was spotted in Perth awhile ago, so I've been waiting for it. And there's also the "Family" that make comments on the Thread here about new deliveries, so you no their about, and the threads by John and the Family in Perth are good to read and know whats about, it's good when you see them finally pay a visit to your space, mines YMML.

    - Oh and the JQ A330 also was alphabetical - and it being very clean gave it away too.

  7. New Garuda A330-200 in at YMML today, PK-GPM. - think everyone was looking for the 787 and missed it.

Also new - "obviously" a Boeing 787 Dreamliner N787BA.....ZA-001 - on the nose wheel cover.

JQ's newish A330 has been 'hiding' at MEL for awhile outside JHA hangers....VH-EBS.

Malaysian Kargo's A330, 9M-MUA, was in for the first time on the 15th Nov.

An old one for maybe the last few days on our shores -VH-TJF : Brolga, Qantas 737-400, de-branded.

  8. Hi Ben, I wasn't there so can't tell you exactly, but was there a storm in the area ? It could have been the lightening alarm. it's rather loud - like a old air raid sound, and can be heard all over , if it was a terminal evca alarm it's a more piercing sound and is localised to that area. The lightening alarm goes off with when its 5 kms away, to give time for workers to make stuff safe and get under cover.

  9. Thanks Guys,

Lots of great suggestions to find the info - and I followed them up, ta. I'm assuming the new CASA way was impelmented when the new surface went down and the line marking. This came about from a Cathay pilot asking which method we use at YMML, when he was told its the ICAO way he doubted that as he was sure it was around the 2000mtr from point to point when he flew in moments ago, well it stumped the tower and the Airfield Safety Officer said it was correct, but it got folks thinking, hmmmm thus my question. Well I'll have to check it out next time I'm out there. thanks again.

  10. Hi,

Can someone clarify some measurements for me please. distance from Threshold to touch down marks on an international runway. I know there are two stanards used ...hmm cant think of the words or letters, but one is 1500 and one 2000.

    - ta, Pete

  11. love how Qantas painted their 747 with the rugby ball under is arm on the tail. But really rubbing it in when they painted a New Zealand registered 737 ( ZK-ZQF)to support the Wallabies . - good luck on the streets in NZ Darren with that attitude after we win - Go Wallabies.

  12. VP-BRT - Did anyone 'capture' this very pretty BBJ when it was at MEL this week ? It was down at the BAE systems hanger then was taken to Jet City in the arvo, on the 21st. The pattern is suppose to be the same as the label of the Vodka bottle, the jets owner makes. Sorry I'm late telling about and asking it's been a busy week. We did also get that new Thai in today - HS-TNA, the A340.

  13. Thanks Heaps Glenn for the update, there's been ALOT of thoughts to this family member, it's great to hear that he is on the road back and not bogged somewhere, with enough speed he will be able to take off from that road / runway - looking forward to that. - Pete <><

  14. Is Virgin having trouble naming their new planes ?? found the latest one at MEL today VH- YIA nameless, that makes about 5 unnamed but in the new colours. They named the Embraer - ZPR, they painted in the new colours. Hmmmmm.
