I think they would be more survivable if they didnt seem to have the engines die so often.
I am not saying this was an engine but with everyone saying how strong they are I. Would just as soon be in a plane that didnt prove that every few weeks or so.

I think it is a logical discussion about how legislation can affect design and use of equipment.is this a truck or a plane forum?- 2
-
And how many companies have actually been knocked off under Cor. Mr plod on the side of the road does not give a stuff about who loaded the truck, he cares only that it is heavy and he has a dumb a***d truckie there that he can write up.
I see it every day. One of Brisbanes largest ports have implemented a sytem that allows them to charge transport companies for cor without even having the infrastructure working to provide the service.

Ok so let me get this straight. A complete team of highly skilled high tech sailors in what they claimed at the time to be the best Navy in the world, kill a bunch of civilians and it is a fuckup. But let an unskilled farmer trying to fight for his personal rights in the middle of backwoods nowhere make the same mistake, and its murder. Yep I can see the logic of that. This is a war zone, you are not going to get free and unfettered access unless you are on the side in control at the time.

No if he had endurance he would have been able to keep the first one happy.

See on the news today that she has ditched him.

Another consideration on weights. There is an allowance for floats if the airframe can handle it within the regulations. Does anyone else think that it is strange that there is no allowance for a BRS if it also could fit within the design weights.
-
I am going through the same process atm. Looking at buying and the first email I have to send out is can you please tell me the MTOW and the empty weight. 90% of responses just quote manufacturers standards. I can get them off goggle. I am new to this and I want to buy something that I can fly legally with some fuel in it. There are not a lot out there that actually fit that criteria for 2 reasonably sized adults. I am not surprised at the thread that hints at some people being afraid of ramp checks..

I agree with the memorising the pre landing checks. However it seems that every time a learn a check list of some sort, someone puts a new one in front of me.
I think maybe I will just keep checking my memory for a while longer at least until I am totally confident of not missing anything. It wouldn't do to come down without those wheels down would it.
The boss went out on Sunday and bought me a string so I can drop them off the nose and they will hang around my neck until I need them. If that doesn't work I will just print some bigger checklists.

Ok why would the GT400 be better and do you have an opinion on the GT500. Eventually the boss will want to come with me when I am confident/competent enough and if I am going to buy a plane I would be better to buy one that will suit then as well. A single seater I would imagine will not last long, as we do everything together.

The journey continues. I now have about 5.5 hrs solo and have actually been out to the training area on my own to practice. I had a lot of trouble with the landings, always getting the flare a bit to high. Well on Sunday I think I figured out why. I wear reading glasses. They sit on the end of my nose and I just look over them when I want to see distance. It has served me well In the truck for years. The problem is it appears to not work so well when landing, I was getting mixed messages about my height. On Sunday I ditched the glasses after completeing my down wind checks and viola no more problem. Not perfect yet but much better. Maybe I just need bigger print on the checklists as can can read all the guages fine but cant see the lists without glasses, or maybe just a neck string so that I can remove them whilst landing. Its never been a problem looking over them before but it seems my perifery vision is getting confused as I look out and it gets worse as I flare the plane. Such an obvious thing but I could not see it. Pun intended

Has anyone got or flown one of these.
What are they like and would they be suitable for a low hour pilot.
Would there be anything to watch out for if looking at one.
Pros and Cons please. :)

I don't see a problem with what Ian is asking for.
I have nothing to hide and certainly do not profess to be something/someone that I am not.
I believe transparency is a good thing.

I like the idea. As a new user it appears to me that this forum can tend to be fairly adverserial. As such a list of licences or memberships or both could give some indication of where some of the agendas lay. It would mean nothing about qualifications or level of knowledge. A licence does not give a level of knowledge and nor does it assure the ability to pass that knowledge on in the electronic form. It could however give some understanding as to where the bias or lack of could come from.

He held a Casa Student Pilot licence for the aircraft that he was flying but was not authorised to fly as PIC.
We can hardly hold RAA responsible.

Greg would the Swift or the Nynja be able to carry 2 * 100kg pax and full fuel. Reading what you said earlier that would stuff op the CofG.
Can you fit the 100hp Rotax and does it give much difference to the cruise.
Cheers Geoff

At the risk of reviving an older thread, what sort of skyranger are you talking about here. Is it the Swift or the Nynja.
My biggest problem is weight. With the minister for war and finance and myself we come in at 200 kgs.
Finding and aircraft to carry us both and still have room for fuel is difficult. All the ones that I have looked at have a much higher empty weight than the specs would suggest. Does anyone have actual empty and mtow for completed aircraft in each of these.
-
Well I have been reading us much as I can about this but it really is confusing.
I looked at a 28 registered plane that has a claimed MTOW of 544 Kg but by my reading it cant go over 450kg.
Am I missing something. Is there something that shows the weight for a specific aircraft.
Then there is a similar aircraft with 55 reg that has a claimed MTOW of 500 kg.
Help?

I applied for membership on a Friday and had my card, my manuals and 3 magazines delivered by the following Wednesday.
Pretty good I thought.
