  2. Sensitive usually has 2/3 pointers with the longest indicating 1000ft per revolution.

     

    Non-sensitive usually has only 1 pointer and may indicate as much as 10000ft per revolution.

     

    Then there are the ones that have 2 pointers and the long one indicates 3000ft per revolution. Found mostly in Eastern European gliders.

  4. I was taught by a WW2 vintage instructor and his idea was that co-ordinated use of all three controls was what caused an aeroplane to turn. To this day, I use one of his bits of patter when instructing in gliders:

     

    ARE we making a correct turn?

     

    Ailerons to maintain the desired angle of bank.

     

    Rudder to remove slip or skid.

     

    Elevator to maintain the desired pitch attitude/airspeed.

     

    Simple really.
