  1. G'day Dave, How's the lessons going? Cheers Greg
  2. I have an old pair of racing boots from a previous life in Formula cars. wafer thin soles , great feel on the pedals
  3. Thanks Gents I have searched the web etc. and can buy a whole heap of multi function grips. They do anything from trimming the aircraft to shooting down the Red Baron, but no simple single swicth. I will make one. Cheers Davis S
  4. Hi Everyone I am looking for a grip which has the PTT switch on the front.i.e. pistol grip. I don't have room for a top mounted switch. Any clues? Thanks David S
  5. Randy, Look after it and it will look after you. Mine has only done 140 hrs but I coddle it like a newborn. I would expect to get it thoroughly checked at about 300+ hrs. Runs like a Swiss Watch David S
  6. Thanks Gentlemen That's given food for thought David S
  7. Hi Has anyone tried using a small 2" venturi tube to drive a turn and bank indicator? If so, does it work? My 2 stroke has no vacuum. David S
  8. Thanks Fellas I'll chase these leads up next week cheers David S
  9. Used to watch Spifires, hurricanes, mustangs etc. during WW2. Was in the Sea Cadets after the War, first flight in a DH Dominie(Rapide)Navy version. Second flight in a Vampire trainer. Failed eyesight test for Fleet Air Arm. Later .in the Northern Territory used to fly every day as part of my job. Must have clocked quite a few hundred hours as a GA passenger 180.210.337.Comanche.Beech etc. Got a ride a couple of years ago in my friend's Chipmunk. Rekindled the desire, now learning. David S
  10. Hi All out there Does anyone know where I can get a pair of 8.00-6 "Tundra" tyres for my Avid. I cut a sidewall through to the canvas Thanks David S
  11. Avid , how many more out there? David S
  12. I am trying to work out fixing points in my aircraft for a 5 point harness.I always had 5 point in my racing cars (crutch strap stops submarining) and would be much more comfortable than with the existing lap sash. I also had an onboard fire ext. and am working on that too David S
  13. re Taildragger Thanks Nev I will follow that up. I own an Avid Mk4 so that may be suitable. The main concern is to find an instructor with more than just a few hrs tailwheel. Thanks Again David S
  14. solo Hi Folks, I am much older , therefore must be much wiser:laugh: than most of you young fellas. I consider myself to be a competent driver , having done a considerable amount of motor racing( historic, open wheelers etc). the gap between 'P' plates and travelling at 250+kms is vast. I am just about to learn to fly and regard solo as my 'P' plate. Soloing early isn't high on my agenda. Staying alive is extremely high. Therefore learning to fly competently is to me of much more importance than gaining my 'P's My bit David S
  15. Hi All. I will moving close to Ballarat next month. There are two schools there. I intend to go for my RAA Cert . Is this a good place for a tailwheel endorsement? thaks David S
