Hi All,
Notched up another Lesson on Friday in 7440, it was another hot day but, change of scenery this week, Pete and I headed over to Caboolture (YCAB) for some Circuits and Grass Landings practice, A great flight over and back, started off a bit sloppy, but the rudder work is getting better, more finessing needed still, which will come with practice, but the lesson was a hoot otherwise,
"Still walking away from each lesson with the biggest smile on my dial"

Hi All,
Back at Redcliffe (YRED) yesterday for another lesson in 7440, it was another stinker, heat wise, Pete felt it was prudent to revisit doing Strip Runs, which was good for me as my rudder foot work does need some finessing, the Strip Runs started off a bit sloppy, but after some words of wisdom and the proverbial clip around the ears from Peter, the runs got better, below is video of some of my attempts,
On the third run in the video, I had audience of pilots and their aircraft waiting to take off, thankfully I didn't embarrass myself and Pete to much Still need more practice but after a debrief with Pete, we have thrash out a couple ideas that will hopefully help me improve, so now cannot wait til my next lesson to give it a go, again another great lesson from Pete, learned some new tips, had a laugh or two, still walking away from each lesson with the biggest grin on my dial!

Ok I'll bite, and you can call me dumb, what is a Cleko?Good thread 148.16 kmh.I might add a tip if I may, when doing matched holes, and my build has a number of parts like that now, I simply put a rivet in each end and using a small hand rivet gun, pull only a bit so the rivet ball just starts to expand the rivet end, can't fall out but is still loose. Depending on the length of the part I also might do halfway, or 1/4 lengths. This leaves the part secure but loose enough in order to line the other holes up and put in the other rivets and start to pull them.

Hi All
Well my Flight Training for 2017 has started off somewhat different, had my first flight for thisyear on the 03rd of January, I had now moved onto of the next step required to complete before I can go Solo, Emergencies and Precautions in the Circuit! Weather was very overcast, but after I had completed pre-flight we went to jump into the Tecnam, bugger me, my camera had fallen out of the plane, not in the air but on the taxi pad, into many, many pieces "great no pictures"
So feeling a little deflated we headed out, today was about managing to land back at the RWY after a engine failure, the goal was to pull the power on the downwind leg of the circuit, opposite the piano keys at RWY 07, turn and glide direct to rwy with no power & flaps, maintaining a glide descent of 65-70knots, and the kicker was I had to get my back wheels on the keys, 7 attempts, 4 Go-Arounds, 2 on the numbers, lesson ended, mentally and physically drained but!
I did get a "well done, you did good today" and told me my next lesson would be more of the same, I just needed more practice, so here I am back at Redcliffe on Friday, the 13th of January no less, rocked up outside the hanger and my Tecnam, 7440 was not there ready for pre-flight, went in to the hanger, there she was parked nose down on a pallet, about 3-4 days ago a private hire pilot was landing and bounced 7440, instead of initiating a go-around, he attempted to land it, she looks a little worse for wear
Today was a stinking hot day, it was about 35c on the tarmac, due to the circuit being busy we decided on doing circuits and revisit some of the basics and I had a new camera to record the day, Debbie gave me a early birthday present, a brand spankin new Garmin VIRB X, mounted it in 7600 and after pre-flight and being well cooked on the ground, Peter and I headed out, it was a good lesson, slightly cooler at 1000ft, managed to pull off some good circuits

RAAus Accident and Defect Summaries,
9/1/2017
Redcliffe Aerodrome QLD
Tecnam Eaglet Rotax 912 ULS
When landing, as the aircraft nose wheel was lowered it collapsed causing the propellor to strike the ground and the aircraft to veer off the RWY, coming to rest with nose on the grass verge.

Hi All,
I have a question for all you active pilots out there, I am hitting a brick wall with Insurance Companies looking for a Life Insurance that includes my disclosure as RAAus Pilot (Student at present) being covered, so far the ones I have contacted only cover you as a passenger on an aircraft, not as a pilot,
could any pilots that have insurance recommend any Insurers that do indeed look after a budding Pilot, student now but eventually be certified, It's now getting to the point that if I cannot fine an insurer soon, my missus will ground me for good, I will be an unhappy Chappy if that happens, my insurer does not cover my flying
Thanks, Brent

Thanks, Tony, Happy New Year to You as well,Nice, but it still doesn't canpare to the real thing, does it?BTW, Happy new year Brent! haven't seen you on here for a whileTony
I also do prefer the real thing, Yes have been away for a bit, OS trip took a hit to my Real World Flying Fund, so was grounded for a while, but was good to get away with the missus, taking a step back from flying was just the ticket, now reinvigorated and ready to jump back into the real Tecnam, renewed my membership, restarted my lessons, had one a couple of weeks ago, my best yet, it was a hoot, have one booked this fri, Emergencies & Precuations in the Circuit

Hi All,
I have a question on Insurance, I started my Learning to Fly Journey In Jan 2016 as a RAAus Student Pilot and thought it prudent to get some life insurance, chose a mob, gave full disclosure on why I wanted the cover for, agreed on a monthly fee, bob's your uncle, done,
Now after paying the same mob monthly premiums for the past year, my policy came up for renewal, but noticed they had stopped taking the monthly premium, after contacting them and asking what's happened, explaining my concerns if I was still indeed covered as I am a pilot
I have now been informed that being a Pilot is not covered in my policy, so after taking my money for the past year, I told them to stick it and now need to look for a new insurer, could anyone give me some advice on insurers that do cover pilots, well in my case a Student Pilot
Thanks, Brent

Hi All,
Back at Redcliffe (YRED) this morning for a Flight Lesson, its nearly been 4 months since I flew last, for the last week its been storm central here, and today looked like it was more of the same. The weather started out pretty crappy and thought I wasn't going to get in a flight, but thankfully there was a small break in the weather and we managed to clock up an hour of circuits
First couple of circuits were a bit rusty, but as I started plugging away it all started to come back to me, Pete, my instructor was quite impressed with my effort today, I was chuffed as well. Back flying next week, weather permitting, I am going to learn about EFACTO, other Emergencies and Precautions in the Circuit!
Cheers, Brent
PS, Sorry no pickies, the way the weather was, didn't think we even get to t/o, so didn't use the camera
Next Flight - Friday the 16th of December

Hi Ian,
Am trying out the new look on my iPad Mini, one question please, now when click on New, the little menu box opens, all your options of where you want to go are there, one little quirk, as it captures all new posts in the last 14 days, is there a way for the Page Numbers Boxes above the posts to be highlighted to show how many pages have unread posts?
Cheers, Brent

The Missus and I were there on Sunday, it was our first Air Show, program was great well organized, plenty to see for all, we had a ball, weather fantastic, with work and real life away from flying I dont get out much, pretty much a cave dweller most times, so I am sometimes a bit pale like a parsnip, however after yesterdays little jaunt with and with not enough of the slip, slop, slap, I got totally roasted, I am hotter than Chernobyl right nowYes, our airshow went off like skyrockets. A great time was had by all. I was doing some marshaling and without exception, everyone I encountered was happy and very positive about the event. The organizers are to be congratulated. You wouldn't believe how much effort they put in, and what was involved to make it what it was, especially ordering the beautiful weather for the 2 days ... THAT took some doingSome pictures, enjoy.
