i wish we could set up a new organisation for real ultralight fliers and let the wannabe ga pilots have raaus.

all the people that fly simple cheap rag and tube in the bush will keep getting slugged higher fees to help cover costs for the others to fly cta and heavier aircraft.

been tried a while ago, died a death for some reason.   Ian (admin) may have the details.   Be nice to have but if wishes were dollars etc etc

  2. Sorry Turbs, a lot more than  8 RA owners at Goulburn when owned by council, also an RA and GA school (busy most of the time), many RA aircraft in hangers, and a good feel to the airfield.   Place went to crap after the council sold it.  The owner tried to victimise and blackmail hanger owners, placed restrictions on runway usage etc etc.

  3. If you wish your children to step outside the state funded system then you should have to pay.   Not the state.   Your choice to step aside, you pay.   Not me, not other peole who do not have kids at private schools, you.   Simple really.   If you dont like the public system then you choose the private system, just dont ask us to pay for it.

Can you remember when, or find out the date of the Council Meeting where it approved the sale to the current owner?

Unfortunately I cannot but member 10.5 or Volksy68 may have that information.   I was dealing with a few issues at the time.

  5. The airpost was gifted to the people of Goulburn by The Poidevan family on the condition that it remain an airport indefinitely.   The council sold the airport to a private operator aginst the wishes of the users and the goulburn people in general in an obvious money grab.   The routine upkeep was offered to be done by the users of the airport but money and alleged self interest bypassed the locals.

I dont know the wording of the deed of gift but I am sure someone has a copy.   Since being taken over by the p[rivate operator, the airport has been semi run down and a state of aggravation has existed between the users and the owner.

I wonder if we started a campaign to get the Australian Press Council to take action against publications who defame aviation by publishing inaccurate and misleading material. Here is their very first principle:

Publications are free to publish as they wish by reporting facts and expressing opinions, provided they take reasonable steps to comply with the following Principles and the Council’s other Standards of Practice:

    Accuracy and clarity

    1. Ensure that factual material in news reports and elsewhere is accurate and not misleading, and is distinguishable from other material such as opinion.

    2. Provide a correction or other adequate remedial action if published material is significantly inaccurate or misleading.

Unfortunately they make their own rules and woe betide any body/Govt/orgamnisation that goes against them.   The old saying the pen is mightier than the sword applies to them and remember, never let the facts get in the way of a good story.   Sorry to be making light of it but your proposal, albeit laudible,  seems to be an exercise at windmill tilting.

  7. I would have thought that the best effort would be put into finding a convenient landing spot and concentrating on that, not recalling master of physics lessons andsecond guessing the initial decision which was to land safe.   Laws of physics and convoluted theories are great in the classroom but when the excrement hits the revolving thing get practical.   Always fly assuming you will need a safe landing spot at any time.
