  1. Rep I think you just created the tittle for my post when I came see the ducks aligning for that flight!
  2. For me personally it comes down to club atmosphere/the social aspect and cost. I'd prefer to do more flying in RAA registered if I'm just flying by myself than hire a 4 seater cessna and have the associated extra cost when I don't need it. But at the same time I still want the ability to do a cross country with a few mates or family in VH aircraft.
  3. Geoff would a RAMPC still allow you those privileges? I'm new to the RPL/RAMPC concept but wouldn't it be worth just skipping the RAMPC and get a class 2 (if you can I suppose....maybe this is why you ask) But then again you say night VMC so you have the class 2...the way I see it you exceed the RAMPC so don't need it...wow I'm confusing myself now! So confusing...even the par 5 to part 61 ppl conversion seems silly....another lot of paperwork to send me a new copy of my PPL license printed slightly different!
  4. Well sounds like we have 2 takers for a flight southwards bound. I'll keep an eye on weather and it lining up with the first Sunday of the month and I'll put a post up on here "advertising" the day and if it works for us we can sort out an aircraft. Mike
  5. Thanks Repa Thanks for the west aussie welcome ;) I occasionally get down Bunbury way so will keep in touch. Maybe a few of us big smoke based pilots can arrange a bit of a ride share and head down for the day...I'd be happy to get us a 4 seater and head down from Jandakot if anyone is keen. Mike
  6. Thanks Fishla Yes thanks sorry hard to get the license term out of my head. That seems very fair and reasonable. I'll start to get some research done into a school so I can get something underway. Cheers
  7. Thanks for the replies and the PM. Dinga I'm currently with the Aero Club flying 172s (just moved to Cessna land - learnt at Minovation in the Pipers) Trikes look like a lot of fun! I'm considering a tail wheel endorsement and some Tiger Moth time to get some wind in my hair so imagine the Trike would give you that same raw stick and rudder feeling. I'd consider a move down to Murray Field to get some better access to RAA whilst also having the VH option if I choose, but also need to balance the CASA recency of 3 take offs etc for pax...a tough call right now thus the decision to renew ppl and do AFR and start exploring other options now I'm comfortable back behind the yoke so to speak. Certainly keen to join a club or two and get involved I'm passionate about flying and about the friendships that come along with a great hobby like this that we are all privileged enough to be able to enjoy and share. Cheers Mike
  8. Hi all I have searched the forum and whilst I've found a fair few posts on a RPL to PPL I can't find much info on PPL to RPL conversion. I understand the aircraft handling and procedures will be quite different but would you consider this conversion to be difficult? From what I understand if I hold both licenses I can fly a VH registered or if I choose RAA registered aircraft from Jandakot (Ive seen one or two leave when I'm down there) do my flight and return at a lower cost (obviously only one pax etc) so it's quite attractive to me. So looking for opinions and maybe some advice on who I should maybe approach to get this underway. Cheers Mike
  9. Hi all After a 4 year hiatus from flying I've just gone through the amazing process of medicals and AFR to be back current with my PPL and now want to return to regular flying for fun the way it used to be for me before kids and work got in the way. Looking forward to seeing you all on here and in the sky Happy Flying Mike
