  2. I know that feeling. My wife hates flying, except for some crazy reason she likes helicopters. If I end up selling it will be mainly because I don't want to travel alone. Local area and circuits yes, but I don't want to overnight without her.

Agree, I wouldn’t want to o/n without my wife either. so I need to keep her enjoying it.

  3. On Thursday I got to do another 1.4h flying from Southern Valley (U42) into Provo KPVU. My first experience with a towered airport. It was a great experience very friendly and controlled. 7 touch and goes. separation. I was a bit worried about my first experience with a tower but they were very good with me and by the 3rd circuit I was feeling very comfortable taking with them. Had a few planes in circuit plus an airbus a318 took off when I was on downwind so I had to slow up and extend downwind for my 120sec. Can’t wait to get back home and do some tower work.

  4. I’m visiting the US and yesterday I got to fly out of South Valley for 1.2h. Amazing taking off at 4600’ and flying at 7100’ and only being 2500’ agl. A big change from the SEQ coastal flying I’m used to. The red on the mountains here in Utah from the Fall looks awesome. Flying over the Salt lake is truely amazing. Another flight today and I can’t wait.

  6. It's great and a bonus that your wife flies with you. Last year, I made a mistake and took mine on a flight around the islands on the eastern side of Brisbane, around midday on a warmish day. Well it was a bit thermally and bumpy up there. Needless to say, she doesn't fly much with me these days. My crampy two seater has become my roomy single seater lately 051_crying.gif.fe5d15edcc60afab3cc76b2638e7acf3.gifI was flying in that area on Friday, there was a big fire, or group of fires burning about 5nm west of Toogoolawah.

:roflmao:of course! Weirdly enough, I love her company, and I'd hoped to share this awesome aviation experience with her, but alas, flying isn't her thing. Corny, I know, but it is what it is.... I'm a hopeless case....By the way, hide this post from your wife, your next post could contain the words, "and then the fight started...."075_amazon.gif.0882093f126abdba732f442cccc04585.gif

Ah that explains the haze.... yes i want to keep her happy with me flying as i love her company as well. Even when i go for a ride on the Busa, i love her being there.

When flying I can turn the pax headset input down if i need to ;)

  7. I’ve just been going through the same problem. I have lost 13kg’s in the past 2 weeks and should be down to a reasonable BMI “for the med” but I have to do the fasting blood glucose test. But my neck has always been over 42cm even when I was in the army. I just have a thick neck... so if I want to fly a VH, it looks like I have to get a RAMPC, so I will still be restricted as I’m not going to go through the sleep study crap.

  9. Today I took my wife to Toowoomba Women’s in Aviation Brunch. I was hoping to get my wife more excited about leanring to fly. It was a great event there, amazing people.

Flying from Caloundra in the Sling is always a great day even if it’s not crystal clear and smooth.... Unfortunately the fires near Somerset yesterday made for some haze plus the low cloud made it a bit bumpy. As I got closer to Somerset the sky’s cleared up and was a great flight.

  10. Yes I find that travelling to Caloundra is 1h 15min each way from Brisbane (I live in Spring Hill so its as central as you get). For a 1-2h flight the extra $15-$30h isn’t too bad given I am saving 1-2h travel time over some of the other area’s and as you pay as you use, the $15-$30/h isn’t as bad at the time.

Now I am about to start my RPL, I am looking at a similar thing, do I spend more time travelling to save a few $$ or do I save my time for flying and make sure I manage fatigue better.

When I was learning I would try to fly first thing Sunday mornings 7am on and I can get back to Brisbane before the traffic gets bad as well.

  11. Back to the tread topic, why on earth would you learn to fly in a high performance aircraft like a Sling?.Much better in my opinion to train in something more robust and forgiving and accordingly cheaper.

For me, that’s an easy one:

    1. It’s a very nice looking aircraft

    2. I found it to be very comfortable and easy to fly.

    3. It’s very modern and with the G3X makes it very appealing

    4. The rate is not much more than a lot of the other aircraft in the similar area.

    5. Great view from inside

  12. I think this has gotten way of topic.
